I've been meaning to read one of her books, but my reading time/mental capacity is somewhat diminished these days, so I have been going with shorter, lighter books, and avoiding tackling anything in the fantasy realm. Though I have heard good things about her books, and I was a very casual friend with her daughter in high school.

It didn't really pick up the pace (I'm at about two thirds of the second book) but I don't mind that at all now. I've been staying late every evening this week to read a couple more chapters, which is always a great sign.

Well, I'll definitely continue on with that series. Now, seeing as how we're into the holiday shopping season, I thought it was appropriate to read Everything: Grand Opening by Christopher Cantwell

Got eight chapters in and sadly lost interest

With the passing away of Sondheim, I'd thought I'd continue on with Ethan Mordden's series on the history of the Broadway musical with One More Kiss: The Broadway Musical in the 1970s

I didn't see, previously, that you were reading these books. Have you read them before? If not, I'm a bit envious. I'd love to have something as stellar as these books to discover right now.

No, first time reading anything by Robin Hobb. A friend recommended this trilogy to me and I'm enjoying both the books and discussing them with him. Been a while since I've read such a classic fantasy. As I said in the previous post, I'm staying late during evenings to read one more chapter, then maybe one more, then wow, it's midnight already? Well, you probably know how it goes.

I can highly recommend any of her books set in this same fantasy world. The "Assassin's Trilogy" is especially good.

I'll probably give it (or some other trilogy from her) a go next year! Finished the Liveship Trilogy and I really enjoyed it. Splendid fantasy.

Finishing this year with a reread of one of my favourite books which I've never read in English before, The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin

Hot damn, you're on a roll brother (IMO). I'll read anything written by UKLG! Perhaps my favorite author of all time.

The kind you wouldn't like, Tim (probably). Sci-fi and fantasy, but very human focused. A genius wordsmith who will gift you with a thousand word narrative in a couple of short sentences.
