Mort(e), by Robert Repino.

Awesome book so far.

Yeah, great book.  Sort of a cross between Animal Farm and a post-apocalyptic sci-fi war epic.
Sincerely,
Jaffa

That's because you should've lol

One of my all-time favorites.

Once you finish all five books of the trilogy, read both Dirk Gently novels, and then finish it off with The Salmon of Doubt.

Unfortunately, the ebook version I have is for crap, so I'll have to wait to find a better version

In the meantime, Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett

I'm reading Spaceman Blues by Brian Francis Slattery on a friend's recommendation but I'm still not quite sure how I feel about it. Anybody?

Reading No god but God: The Origins, Evolution and Future of Islam, by Reza Aslan.

At the moment, I'm still early in the book, dealing with the life of Muhammad. I have a feel for the events of his life from a documentary I saw about him and another book I read, so it's really interesting to see how they're handled by an extremely knowledgeable modern liberal Muslim. For example, he's happy to bring up and shoot down common Islamic traditional beliefs that he feels are baseless, like Muhammad being illiterate, Muhammad being completely pure of outside influence from other monotheistic religions when he made his revelations, etc. And he freely explores the touchier topics, like Islam's treatment of women and the genocide of the Jews. Yet, unless he comes back to it later, he didn't even mention the Satanic Verses.

I'm currently reading Origin by Stephen Baxter (the final part of a rather unusual sci-fi trilogy), and also working my way through Sandman 10: The Wake by Neil Gaiman. This series is so damn good.

Just started Have A Nice Day: A Tale Of Blood And Sweatsocks by Mick Foley. As A wrestling fan i've been wanting to get around to this one for a while.

I also picked up The Colour Of Magic By Terry Pratchett to read after it.

Every time I finish a Discworld book, I can't help but feel a bit depressed that such a brilliant mind has been struck down with Alzheimers. Such a shame.

Anyway, going to give The Magicians by Lev Grossman a try

The Third Target by Joel Rosenberg. Good action, very intriguing and timely plot, but the cliffhanger ending left me disappointed. Also, the chapter where the author basically espouses his Christian beliefs through one of his characters was way too long and completely irrelevant to the story. Seems like he just shoehorned it in because he wanted to proselytize to his audience.

But I'd still give a 4/5.

Have A Nice Day is awesome. I haven't read his last two books, but from what I gather, the first one is easily his best, certainly better than Foley Is Good

Great stuff! Unusually for the series, the first two books are a two-parter (never happened again after that - a number of characters and settings return but always with a new story). It's a lot of fun, great humour and imagination, but in my opinion definitely suffers from trying to incoporate a few too many ideas. For me, the third book is where the series starts getting really good.

It wasn't amazing, but it had a bit more coherence to it than the first two, I thought. Sorcery is the first great one though, in my opinion.

I really liked the colour of magic, although at some points it had me scratching my head in confusion. I don't know if it was the combination of the original british version and my stupid american brain or if it can be a bit confusing at first.

Well seeing as The Light Fantastic follows directly after it I might as well just jump into that one.

I really liked the light fantastic. it was much more straight forward and easier to follow than the first.

And now for something completely different, Batman: Hush

Finally, after more than a month of having it, I managed to finish The Fool's Errand by Robin Hobb. I liked it, a bit more than the last book on the Farseer Trilogy, which was neither bad nor too good IMO. Some thoughts with spoilers is anybody's interested.

The first half is quite slow and boring. But after that, it significantly improved. But, boy, why did Nighteyes have to die? He was my fav character along with the Fool. But I guess his death was fair - he was old, had serious injuries, and keeping him alive just for the sake of it would have been pointless. It makes sense, but I almost cried when it happened. Poor Fitz, and damn you Hobb - the guy already had a miserable life, and you did this to him? That's cruel.

I'm considering if stopping with Hobb's world now and read something else, or to start with the following book, The Golden Fool.

I recently finally finished the main part of Neil Gaiman's Sandman series of graphic novels. Damn that was some powerful stuff. Now just got Endless Nights to read and then probably some of the spin-offy ones like Dream Hunters.

On a related note, I'm currently reading Neil Gaiman - The Ocean at the End of the Lane. I love basically everything Gaiman has written so I'm confident I'm going to like this.

I've also just started reading Peter F. Hamilton - Pandora's Star. Anyone here read any Hamilton? It seems like wonderfully rich sci-fi with a big cast of characters and complex stories. Strikes me as a sort of sci-fi version of George R R Martin in some ways.

After finishing A Dance With Dragons about a month ago I haven't felt the desire to read. I started a new book and was like "this isn't as good as ASOIAF" and haven't been able to get back into reading since.

If that new book is on a fantasy setting, I can understand your situation :lol . Maybe you should try something totally different, like crime, horror, realistic fiction, or even a good nonfiction book.

Get Joe Abercrombie's The First Law trilogy and you won't be saying that!
