The Adventure of the Peculiar Protocols: Adapted from the Journals of John H. Watson, M.D edited by Nicholas Meyer. I enjoy his Holmes pastiches.

Starting my first Jim Butcher work with Storm Front. Seems like half the people who post in this thread are reading that series.

I second this. But the series really gets going with book three or four. The first ones aren't bad but nowhere near as good as the rest.

Glengarry Glen Ross by David Mamet. After reading that last book, I decided to get back to reading plays on the regular, both contemporary and classical

Time to do some recommendations from this thread, this one is from Shadow Ninja finally, Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Finished this, liked it overall. The prose was good, the plot was alright I guess. Everything was very good until the romantic parts began. Also this ended up being one of those few books where I saw the twist coming from miles away.

I'm interested to see how the story ends and I bought both books anyway so The Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

Yeah, this is probably pretty close to how I feel about it. The romance is really obnoxious but the rest is really good. I want to say there's a bit less of that in the second one? Either way I can't imagine not liking the second if you liked the first.

Pretty enjoyable, enough for me to read further, but not enough to bump it up to the front of the queue.

Had to put this away after about 2/3, not entertaining enough, I was expecting more from this book. Maybe I will return to it later.

I haven't read this one and I'm from Russia, let me know how it is :)

Nearing the last half of Muse of Nightmares, that got dialed to eleven real quick :lol It's a real page-turner though, I expect I'll finish it tomorrow.

I just started this one, but some time ago I've read the predecessor Metro 2033.

I thought that one was really good, I liked the basic premise of an apocalyptic scenario and people surviving in metro stations. It's not always logical or realistic but there were some good ideas. And I learned a lot about the different metro stations in Moscow.  :D

One of my best friends is really fascinated with all the metro/subway stuff, he knows loads about that and always passionately rambles to me about it, therefore I also know a lot about the different metro stations in Moscow :lol it's a really fascinating subject.

There was a map of the Moscow subway lines included and on it I followed the hero's travels. As a result I probably know the Moscow lines better than the ones in my hometown.

Kinda curious which lines and stations are there and which aren't given it's happening in the future. I live near Sokolniki (the red line, also the first subway line built in Moscow). Do you have a link to the actual map included in the book? I googled it but there were too many different results.

I've got this map, but it's in german: https://metro2033.org/images/map_metro2033_overview_big.jpg

Here's one in english, but the legend is not as detailed: http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/metro2033/images/b/b2/MetroVGMap2.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130627023810

Artjom, the main character starts at WDNCh or VDNKH, depending on the german or english spelling and he visits most of the stations on the red line and inside the circle.

So I finished the so-far published Game Of Thrones books.   I'm...   I can't really describe it.  I'm at a point that I'm quasi-familiar with (Jon Snow, Cersei, Daenarys, Tyrion...) and yet not (Ramsay Bolton, Jaime) and yet I'm not sure how we got there, necessarily, or where we are going.  I hope I can sustain the interest until GRRM releases the next volume.  I fear we'll never see the concluding work, though.

I'm going to lighten it up a bit and read some Robert Ludlum; I started with The Road To Gandalfo, but that book sucks so I'm regretting that.  :)

I definitely liked it better than Uzumaki. It's very different, although it lacks an ending. That was really the only drawback for me. Will definitely be checking out Gyu in March
