I'm waiting to get my copy of Elton John's autobiography that I ordered a few days ago.

That's a great book. Only thing I disliked was that he only glosses over his albums. Wish he had more stories about his music. The stuff about his rehab and recovery were very candid and awesome to read.

Now on to The Heroes by Joe Abercrombie.

Let me know what you think. There's a hilarious 2-star review on Goodreads where the reviewer didn't like the author's style and wrote a parody of a chapter, it's kinda mean but it's so spot on I still find it hilarious. :lol

Personally I didn't like the book much. The only ones I'm a big fan of are Best Served Cold and A Little Hatred, his latest.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

La Tour Sombre 4: Magie et Cristal

Given how long it took me to finish waste lands in french, I'll probably split this one into 2 reads. The new Jack Reacher on my shelf has be nagging me to read it, so I'll hop on that story once i get through the Blaine section.

Moving on to Auntie Mame by Patrick Dennis. I've always liked the musical (I was also in the ensemble of a production many moons back). Interested to see what the source material is like

Blue Moon by Lee Child
Some glaring plot holes/inconsistencies in that one. It was still fairly entertaining as an action novel, but I would hope that after 20+ years Lee Child would get better at this, not worse.

Back to La Tour Sombre 4: Magie et Cristal. I certainly enjoy my visits to the Barony of Mejis  ;D

The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street by Helene Hanff. Almost exactly a year ago, I had read 84, Charing Cross Road. Here is the sequel. Wonder if I will like it as much, or even more so, than it's predecessor

I find the Reacher novels highly enjoyable, but do agree that over the last couple offerings the quality has dropped a little bit.

Completely agree. I thought Midnight Line was a decent return to form after the dumpster fire that was Night School, but these last 2 have been a step back again

I am halfway through my first James Michener novel, Alaska, and am thoroughly enjoying it. It’s an entertaining way to learn history, and it is a very detailed history going back to the formation of the continents. Lol.  1,100 pages.

I’ve already purchased a couple more of his novels to dig into after I finish this one.

So, that last book wasn't as interesting as I'd hope (I've been doing much better with my DNFs this year so far. Only two right now)

Anyway, after having watched a bootlegged version of Stephen Sondheim's Assassins, I was inspired to read Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard
