Re-reading another of Lee Child's Jack Reacher books while I wait for the 3rd Dark Tower to show up in the mail. This time it's Gone Tomorrow. These books are like crack to me. They're not life changing novels, but they're basically all page turners if you like the mystery action genre.
I LOVE the Reacher novels.  In fact, next month I may get the chance to see Mr. Child at a local appearance.

An Unsettling God: The Heart of the Hebrew Bible by Walter Brueggemann
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Nice! That would be a cool experience. He had another cameo in the most recent Jack Reacher movie. Even had a line in this one!

Right now I'm a little more than halfway through the 2nd read of all his novels haha. I'm looking forward to the new one next month.

Reacher novels are great! On the one hand, he has a formula, and you know what you are going to get. But on the other, each story is unique, which makes for a unique reading experience each time. They are definitely page-turners. I just realized I don't know anything about Lee Child the person, I've never seen or read about him giving an interview. Hope you get to meet him Hef.

On page 84 and this is very, very interesting so far. The first 50 pages are kinda hard to get through because they're vaguely related to the series and more focused on other historical aspects, but now it's getting into some intriguing territories. It's a very ambitious project, this one, and a beautiful book. So yeah, digging it so far.

Finished it yesterday - I can definitely see why this has upset so many people since half the book is almost x-files fanfiction. However, it's not just "aliens", it points at things deeper, out of our grasp, that are more than UFOs but something almost akin to Lovecraft's mistery of the unknown. There are some very interesting sections on backstory of some of Twin Peaks characters, but also some weird inconsistencies - yet according to Mark, it might be a clue or done in purpose. I'd love to see how this ties up with the new season. But yeah, I'd recommend this book only to very dedicated fans tbh.

TP stuff

That's what I've read, and while I vividly remember watching the show when it originally aired and getting all caught up in it, I watched it through recently and while the nostalgia kick was massive, I don't have any interest in the TP world now, and that extends to the new run of episodes they are making.

Treasure Island, Robert Louis Stevenson.

Wait, are there UFOs and aliens in Twin Peaks? I haven't watch that show, yet.

Recently finished the fourth Dark Tower novel. I liked it more than Book 3. But I don't think anything will top the second book, The Drawing of 3. I hope the series picks up and gets me super excited again like I was with the second book.

Right now I'm reading The Night Church by Whitley Strieber. Very, very underrated author.

Not exactly, more like spirits or just weird supernatural stuff, but the books hints at another possible explanation.

Also, close to finishing that Dark Tower book, and gotta agree with you, The Drawing of Three was amazing.

Treasure Island, Robert Louis Stevenson.

It's great - I read it a couple of years ago and found it surprisingly easy to read.

Nice to get another classic in the bag.

Mystic River, by Dennis Lehane. Before that it was Lehane's debut novel, A Drink Before the War. Before that it was Shirley Jackson's We Have Always Lived in the Castle.

That is the way I am feeling. Almost done, then The Bourne Identity which I read many moons ago, I hardly remember anything.

Picked up Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass today. I should wrap up Waste Lands this weekend,  so i wanted to be ready with the next one.  I'm absolutely hooked on this series now, and the books keep getting better and better.

That's good to hear! I'm almost finishing book four - be patient with this one, pace is definitely slower than the previous books. But it's pretty great so far.

Wizard and Glass Very few books have enraptured me as much as W&G did. It's not the best King book or even my favorite, but I was so wrapped up in the story, I felt like I was along with Roland the whole way. I didn't want it to end.
