We met Joe (DragonAttack) and his wife Susan in Boston this afternoon for drinks and apps. Had a great time visiting with them.




Behind us is the Leader Bank Pavillion where Dream Theater played a couple of months ago.

We took a little trip for our anniversary.  The hotel had a baby grand piano in the lobby, and encouraged the guests to make use of it.  Obviously I was not going to resist an offer like that.  Perhaps just as obviously, my wife had to take a picture.



Fort Madison, Iowa.  That's the Mississippi River somewhat visible through the lobby curtains behind me.

I was a really nice piano at one time.  Being out in the general public like that, it's taken some abuse, though nothing major.  Everything worked, but the action towards the high end was mushy, and the middle pedal didn't work properly (yes, I'm one of those piano snobs who actually knows how to use the middle pedal of a grand, and thus is bummed when it doesn't work).  It just needs some TLC, but it's probably not going to get it for a while, since the hotel, and the town of Fort Madison in general, has fallen on hard times.  The population of the town is down like 30% from 20 years ago.
