Yup, no surprise there. :lol

Maybe next, Pods and Mrs Pods can recreate the Lovedrive album cover! ;D

HAHA

I already did with the lovely Mrs. TAC. If you want to see the picture, Tim, look under the panties in the top drawer of her dresser. The right side, toward the back.

Just wanted to say I really like the t-shirt in the first pic. Looks fine to me.

Huh, I'm 27 and I remember using a polaroid in my childhood. I probably still have some pics in a photo album somewhere.

Obviously I was joking, but like cassette tapes, walkman, phones with a cord attached and other things, polaroids are objects of the past, that most kids today mostly know by hearsay.

My daughter (12) asked me why you "hang up" a phone when all you do is press a button.  :)

You're really making me feel older than I should, man. :)

Also for phones with a cord attached, dunno how it is in US but we still have these at work. Obviously no work for your daughter yet but still curious if you guys use these in offices.

Oh yeah.  I'm so old I used a rotary phone that was a party line and you only had to dial a 4 digit #.   :lol

Polaroids are totally a thing of the past but corded phones are still regularly used for businesses at the very least. I grew up on the cusp of the Internet age, so I'm familiar with corded phones, cassettes, getting photos developed, walkmans, all that stuff. The older I get, those very few years I had between forming a working memory and having access to a computer become more precious in my mind. Hell... I was using a typewriter in kindergarten but 5 years later was typing essays for school and printing them out at home  :lol

You're right, too much working from home it seems, so I forgot. We have exact the same phones at work. But it's been years that I saw a corded phone in someones home. Some even haven't regular phones anymore, just their mobiles.

When we bought our house 14 year ago, we bought a wall-mounted corded phone that ran from the phone line's power because my parents were like "you need a phone if the power goes out." That phone is still on the wall, has not been plugged in for over a decade, and remains a relic of a bygone age.

Yeah I'm the same. Was getting advertisement calls on my stationary phone and absolutely nothing else so I threw it away.

My grandparents still own a corded phone so there's that. :)

I don't even have a house phone, I see no point these days, but that Cisco phone is like everywhere in work offices.

As for the pics... I guess I'd choose 2 but I have no issues with 1.  I love how you are pretty much doing the exact same pose in both, almost like the outfits are just photoshopped onto the same picture of you.

The benefits of a tripod, chairs at the correct height, a camera set to a defined exposure and focal range, and remote flash on it's own tripod. Once you get everything set, it's simple to switch out clothes and get consistent results.

While this is true, I still feel like the tree in the first pic is a bit more blurred compared to the second one.

True, but that was deliberate choice in post production. I applied a 12 pixel Gaussian blur to the background to give a bit more depth to the photo.

I pride myself on knowing a lot of things.  I was able to answer a question on the iPod with some detail, from memory.  I was able to respond to a question on Maiden's Maiden Japan in some detail, from memory.   Then I read that, and not only do I not know what a "12 pixel Gaussian blur" is, I've never even HEARD of such a thing!   :)

Though, Gaussian Blur would be a cool name for an album, or maybe even a band.

I've a fair idea of what it is, but in my opinion, it didn't enhance the first pic.

That being said, I've no clue about photography overall. But hey, you did ask for my opinion so here you go.

It's all subjective, Ev, and I appreciate your point of view.

My thought at the time was that if the tree was too much in focus it would appear to be sprouting from our heads. Camera lenses tend to flatten 3 dimensional space, and in portraits that can have some comical results. I tried to set the lens depth of field to head this problem off, but when I got it on screen I thought the tree was just a bit too sharp. Because the second photo wasn't going to be used for our xmas cards, I never applied the same filter to the second photo.

I'm actually surprised and impressed that you noticed.

Something Something Christmas

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Sadly....Time Square was just as barren on NY Eve.

(we travelled up there months prior in Dec and Jan, and stayed at The Marquis.  Love, and miss that city)
...going along with Dragon Attack's Queen thread has been like taking a free class in Queen knowledge. Where else are you gonna find info like that?!

I friggin' LOVE New York City.   I relish those shows; I go in, have a beer at McSorley's, head over to the meetup (if there is one) or to the show itself, then either the post-show meetup (if there is one) or to grab a slice or a sammich for the ride home.   It's like a vacation for me.

I'm hoping, hoping, hoping, that I can see Transatlantic in the City in 2021.
