I didn't enjoy them as I should have when it WAS the 80's, as I was a little young - I turned 14 in '89. Nowadays, I pretty much listen to 80's music exclusively, but as for the 80's in general, I wasn't paying much attention at the time. Music aside, there were a lot of cool fads and things that I look back on with nostalgia.

Coz, that's bad ass.  How did you go about getting the inlay done like that?  Did you have it custom done or was it dumb luck to find that?

To me, the 80's were weird.  I listen to a lot of 80's music, and some of it is just plain awesome (I still think Cinderella is a GREAT band).  But the more I learn, the more I know, I feel like the 80's was a thing to be experienced more than the music itself.  I can't imagine what it was like to walk to the Whiskey, watch a band called Motley Crue, then walk down the street to the Rainbow and watching a band called Mickey Ratt, then walking to Gazarri's to watch a band called Hollywood Rose (which later became Guns'n'Roses), then hike back to an open party at the house that those Motley Crue guys live in (about a half a block from the Whiskey).

The reason this is important is that it gives a context to some of the music.   As much as I love Kiss, the stupid leopard prints and bandanna's tied around Paul Stanley's balls don't really make sense, unless you realize that it was his way of mainstreaming the way the average dude looked every night on Sunset Strip.

I printed all the letters up in a Microsoft Word doc.  Mrs. C. used to do a lot of scrapbooking and still has a ton of tools, including a sticker maker.  Cut the letters out, run them through the sticker maker, apply to fretboard.  :lol  They need to be a deeper shade of pink though.  They're too light.  Also, what you can't see is the long pink zebra scarf hanging off my right hip (you can only see a tiny bit of it here).

I agree, there was undeniably a part of it that you had to just live in the middle of to really "get" it or appreciate it properly.  Granted at the time, I was like 11 or 12, so I was SOL.  I know it had to be an absolutely AWESOME experience to be a part of that scene back in the day.

For the record, we did Gypsy Road on Saturday.  We also have Somebody Save Me and Comin' Home on the list to work on as well.  ;)

You could always spray a fine lacquer over them or something. To stop them curling or leaving residue.

Amazingly, they never curl and though they stay on well, it isn't a real HEAVY adhesive.  Doesn't tend to leave a lot of residue.  It's like some sort of crazy magic or something.

Guys, it's Coz.  The letters just stay there because, well, it's cooler for them to be there than curled up in a ball on the floor.  They're no dummies.   :)

That's how Zydar likes his chicks, curled up in a ball on the floor.

Interesting.  How do you handle the vocals on those?   I have often thought about doing some of their songs.  But I just never thought they would sound good without Tom's high ultra-raspy vocals, and those are near impossible to duplicate.

Amazingly, we have a singer that can handle that stuff.  I've worked out harmonies for me and the other guitarist on a number of songs.  This was Saturday's set list:

RAISE YOUR HANDS
GYPSY ROAD
SEX TYPE THING
COLD BLOOD
DOWN ON ME
PARALYZER
LOOKS THAT KILL
HOUSE OF PAIN
TUSH
SLITHER
SLIDE IT IN
CRAZY BITCH
SHOOK ME ALL NITE LONG

So does he go for that falsetto rasp then?  With AC/DC and Cinderella in the set, I am guessing the answer is yes.

Pretty much.  He doesn't come off as raspy, but at least he can hit the notes, which I'm pretty happy about.  :lol  I've got 12 of the songs on video, I just have to transfer it to HDD and split it up, and I'll be posting some.
