I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Got to play the grand piano in church again today.  I'm pretty sure that this is the first time Scott Joplin has featured in a service at my church.  At least this is the first time I've done it, and I don't think anyone else would.

But man, I love playing that piano.  Beautiful instrument.

I was talking to the music director before the service, and she said to go ahead and open up the piano, so I wouldn't have to go up and deal with that when it came to that part of the service.  I figured it would be okay to open the the lid as well, just on the short peg.  Gotta let that baby sing!

Had dinner with the guys in the band and two other friends this saturday. Sam has a polaroid carema so we took some photos. Since these images already look kinda old when they're brand new I almost feel nostalgic about them even though it only happened two days ago.

A few shots from The TAC Summer Vacation.

We flew in and out of Denver. Saw a game. Drove through Nebraska and visited Carhenge, on the way to Rapid City SD. Saw Mount Rushmore, and Devil's Tower in Wyoming. Went to Yellowstone and The Grand Teton National Parks. It is amazing country out there!

Thanks. My oldest son found it online and that's all he talked about. Luckily it was literally on our route so it was easy to jump off the highway. It was pretty cool. There was a huge thunderstorm and we literally drove through some of the hardest and darkest rain I have ever seen. Basically praying we wouldn't be scooped up by a tornado.
