I graduated from college On Saturday as well. It's surreal--a long hard journey for sure. I flunked a semester my freshmen year because I just wasn't focused. It wasn't from drinking or partying or anything, but I just didn't care for some reason. Then I got the kick in the ass that I needed and graduated in the same four year timeline with everyone else. Very emotional for me because I proved to myself that if I put my mind to something and work hard, I can achieve what I want.

Congratulations :tup
What did you major in?

Good morning peeps.  Guess what time it is..
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Dude, that's exactly what it was.  Little bar in a tiny town in rural Illinois, this is big-time fun.

There were railroad tracks right next to the bar. We were set up in the back parking lot and I could see them from where I stood.  At one point, a huge Union Pacific freight train came blasting through, four engines roaring.  It was kinda funny because it happened between songs while Anne was talking to the audience and suddenly you couldn't hear anything, so we just waited until it passed by, then we started the next song.

That's like something I'd expect to see in This is Spinal Tap except their stage woulda been built on the tracks under the assurance from locals that the station stopped using that route years ago. Also, the best part about playing for drunk rednecks is when they start gnawing each other's faces off while slow dancing to Clapton's Wonderful Tonight.

We do "Wonderful Tonight" and yeah, it was like that.

The best part about playing keyboards is that I basically stand back in the corner and can watch everything.  Usually I'm at least as entertained as they are.

Uhhh... usually.

But seriously, these people know how to have fun.

The girl in the middle is Angel.  It was her birthday, so we sang "Birthday" by The Beatles and let her shake it.  The tambourine, that is.

Her boyfriend (black headband) was the one who asked me if we could sing a birthday song for her.  We always keep "Birthday" around because it's always someone's birthday, and we do a thing during the drum break where we count, so I asked him how old she is.  This is before I'd seen her or anything.  He said "She's 53, but she's hot, so it's all good."  Damn!  I'm 53, and if my girlfriend looked like that, I'd be a happy man.
