Whenever I trim my beard after letting it grow for a long while, my face looks like I lost 20 pounds. It’s a nice easy ego boost.

I was actually covered in red, blood from the show but before it ended they just drenched everyone I that green blue color to I guess make it look like people weren't leaving a massacre

I haven't posted a picture in a while, and it's been even longer since I posted a picture where I wasn't playing something, but here's one taken today of me and most of my cadre.  We were in town to say goodbye to one of my oldest friends, Dan, who we've known since junior high.  So the occassion was not a happy one, but we still took the opportunity to get together for some snacks afterwards.  Dan would've wanted it that way.



It seems most of my life has been centered around music in one way or another.  The last time this particular group was together, Dan was our drummer.  Whenever we get together at John's house, we almost always end up jamming for a while, and the wives and girlfriends just put up with it, since we've been doing this since junior high.

Took a puck to the fact tonight at our hockey practice. Was standing off to the side of the net talking to a couple players and a shot got deflected right into the ol' cheekbone. It was funny because obviously I winced and when I looked back at the two players one of them was like "uh....coach....there's a lot of blood there".......I skated out to the other coach and showed him and he was just like "yeah....you need to leave"







Then went to Urgent Care and they just glued it shut. Probably going to have a nice shiner over the next couple days.







When I play mens league hockey I wear the full face mask....typically when on the ice coaching things like this haven't happened. Been doing this since 2018 and this is the first injury while coaching. I was just standing in a dumb spot....I was too far behind the net and put myself in a bad spot.

Yep. A tad higher and this is a different picture and story. It was right on that orbital bone so it must have just split perfectly....plus the puck was going end over end. They did xray my face and there was no broken or chipped bones.

Just have a pretty killer headache going right now.

Thankfully not fast at all. It was a deflected shot so it was kind of going end over end and lost a lot of steam after hitting the stick that deflected it. Still hit hard but not as hard as it could have. Oddly didn’t really hurt in the moment. Wasn’t until 15-20 minutes later it started to ache.

I think since it hit right on my cheek bone it just split the skin real easily. X-rays showed nothing was broke so just had to line up the skin and glue it back in place.

I’m sure it’ll be a nice little scar and maybe I could have looked into a more aesthetic approach to getting it fixed….but….i mean…..I’m a married 48 year old father of three. At this point I’ll take the scar and the story.

That's the key right there; the skin will heal, but that kind of break is sometimes tough.

Nothing hurts at all. Largest hurdle was the swelling that caused some peripheral vision blockage but it's gone down a ton.
