:lol She't not usually the kind to get pissed over the color of her cup or things like that, I just heard her screaming when I came downstairs and my wife said, "all the pink cups are in the dishwasher." Had to be made into a meme.

A brief DTF meet up happened earlier this evening with me and our very own bosk1! Bosk is in my neck of the woods with his family visiting Disneyland for a few days. I do media production for the company so it was easy to go in and finally meet up after all these years

Also drove in from LA in 2hr traffic after working a long commercial shoot that included a 5 hour turnaround and a 4 am call time, so I was very tired, and slurring up a storm. Bosk1 probably thought I was drunk lol

Great to meet you!  I was actually afraid you would think *I* was drunk (or just rude).  I was just in total Dad Mode managing the logistics of being at the Disney parks with our friends and our (between the two families) 7 kids.  There is a certain perpetual state of being simultaneously distracted and laser-focused on the immediate that comes with being a parent that is difficult to understand for anyone that is not in that stage in their life, and I was fully in that mode.  Add to that the difficulty of trying to have a conversation for the first time with someone that you kind of feel like you know well because you have been reading that person's thoughts on the Internet for years, but that you also don't really "know" at all because you have never met.  Under the limited time constrains of a 10-minute or so meet-up, it's tricky to have a meaningful conversation that doesn't feel awkward with lots of unnatural feeling pauses.  :lol  But it's all good.  I think we both realized where we were coming from.  Really cool that you took the time to fight the traffic and go out of your way to stop in the park to meet up.  It was truly a pleasure.

Nice pic XJ, I guess it's not as cold as it looks?  :lol

From the awesome beach of Jamaica on Wednesday

To the coldness of NYC for Louis CK on Friday

And since it was kind of odd, the tree in Rockefeller center without the lights.  For some reason the lights just went out (I got plenty of pictures with lights so I thought it was cool to see a different perspective)

...but not in Toronto.  I am not suggesting there is any connection.

They were both born in 1931, so they were both 39.  My dad was born in Toronto, grew up there, so we visited many times while we were kids. At least three or four week-long summer vacations, and some shorter stays, long weekends I think.

Grandpa Yee's Farm, rural Ontario, 20 miles north of Toronto.  My older sister and I are two years apart, so I'm 2 or 3 here, she's 4 or 5.  Dad's about 35.

I think it was around -5C that day but I was really warm from carrying my luggage up the mountain so I took my coat off to cool down. Got lots of odd looks from the native Japanese. :p

Yes.  Think of an inlet, not a harbor like with an ocean, but smaller, like a bay off of Lake Michigan.  But the bay itself is disgusting, polluted by all the crap dumped into it from the nearby packing plants.  The water is actually green.  The bay is green because of all the packing.  It's related to that.

Ten O'clock on a Christmas Morning

Yeah, so my face is obscured and this is the only picture, but there's enough pictures of me around here anyway.

Shirley leading the singing, Orbert on Keyboards, Michael on Violin, Laura on Viola
(horrible picture of Laura, who is amazingly hot but somehow always takes horrible pictures)

Christmas on a Sunday doesn't come around often enough for there to be a "regular" way to do it, meaning that we could do whatever we want with it.  It's a given that attendance will be low but also unpredictable, so this lent itself towards doing something unconventional.  Our organist is taking a few weeks to visit family back home, so they asked me if we could set up the Yamaha keyboard and we could just sing carols in the Fellowship Hall.  Informal service, coffee, juice and cinnamon rolls, lots of singing.  I told them that that sounded awesome except the Yamaha needs work so I'll just bring my own gear, and of course that was cool.

I set up over by the Christmas Tree, and when Shirley (director) arrived, she'd talked Michael and Laura into joining me, which was a surprise but perfectly welcome.  It was cool, playing carols off of lead sheets, I could let them do countermelodies and harmonies and I could go nuts filling in the bottom and middle and everything else.  There aren't a lot of what I'd call "real musicians" in the congregation, but Michael and Laura are two of them.  We did some impromptu instrumentals for prelude, offertory, and postlude, just winging it.  It was sweet.  Had a cinnamon roll and some coffee, then packed up and went home so we could open presents and stuff.  Perfect way to spend a Christmas morning, with a gig.

Good question.  We went through a bunch of stuff.  I know we closed with an instrumental "O Holy Night".  Prelude was mostly me messing around while we the others got stuff set up, but I know we did "Oh Come, All Ye Faithful" in there somewhere.  During the service itself, "The First Noel", "Go Tell It on the Mountain", "Joy to the World", and others.

Don't ever joke about the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.  That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed, when the gales of November came early.

(I'm kidding, but I LOVE that song.  One of my favorites).
