What if we had singer auditions...
« on: August 07, 2014, 06:12:53 PM »
I'm kind of curious about this thread.
What if we had DT singer auditions, just like the ones for drummer in 2011. Let's imagine JLB asked for some time out, a break, just like MP did, and the band decides to go on...
What names you think would make to the band's list?

Given the direction MP was pushing the music, I'd say Russell Allen.

I think Ross Jennings would make the short list right quick. He has a similar enough style to JLB and experience singing both ballads and metal songs. I imagine he would have to do a little work in his upper register but for the most part wouldn't have too much of a problem adapting to Dream Theater's material. But I think there's little question that he would choose to remain with Haken. Particularly because Haken has a longer future ahead of them and right now stands to be considered DT's spiritual successor and the cutting edge of the particular style of progressive music that both play.
And if spirit's a sign,
Then it's only a matter of time
