Going by fractions instead of decimals is a very American thing anyway. All those 3 and 5/8ths of an inch per hogshead on a furlong...
I had no idea they used fractions on the stock market
ever, let alone up until so recently, so I find that a little embarrassing.
Those exponential fraction subdivisions might seem easier when you're dealing with simple larger fractions on something practical, but once you're actually dealing with
numbers, I find them ridiculously cumbersome compared to decimals.
