I believe you are correct. He would demand all these amentities as part of his contract, and then donate them to orphanages, as he grew up in one. He wasn't a perfect human being off the set (who is?), but it is nice to see little touches like that from a celebrity.

Seriously though...
Robert Deniro, Al Pacino, Robert Redford, Kevin Spacey, Dustin Hoffman, Paul Newman, Samuel L. Jackson, Jack Nicholson, Jack Lemmon, Gene Hackman, Sean Penn, Tom Hanks, Morgan Freeman.....

How can I choose 4? I'm already missing a ton as it is!

I'm leaning toward Kevin Spacey as # 3.  I don't know.

Not sure how Cranston could be considered a "no-brainer" when talking about greatest actors ever.  Maybe my memory is funny, but before Breaking Bad, I don't remember him EVER being talked about in such glowing fashion.

Whatley! :lol :lol

Interestingly, and I swear I am not just saying this now, when Cranston guest starred on Seinfeld a handful of times as Tim Whatley, you could even tell then that he was good.  His delivery, facial expressions, comedic timing, etc. were all great, even in that minor role.  Granted, I never thought he'd be as awesome as he was in Breaking Bad, but it's not like he was a scrub prior to Breaking Bad.  Hell, even though it was only a sitcom, he was pretty great on Malcolm in the Middle.

I didn't mean to imply that Cranston was a talentless hack or anything.  I just always saw him as just another actor, nothing seen to be uber-talented.

Kinda surprised I'm the first to mention James Spader.

Spacey is another I hated leaving off.

Fight Club fan, eh, Kath? :)

Funny enough but I've never actually considered it a favorite.  I actually thought it was kind of stupid- at least up until the end...then I sat back and thought about how cool it was.  But regardless, obviously an amazingly well-casted movie, in my opinion :)

Top 4 as in anything I see them in I will give a watch:

Tom Hanks
Leo DiCaprio
Cristoph Waltz
Michael Fassbender (at the mo)

Honourable mentions would be Pacino, Pitt, Clooney, Marky Mark Wahlberg (no really - I think the guy is pretty good and does have excellent comic timing - check out Ted and The Other guys), Matt Damon (again really - I really enjoyed the stuff he did with Paul Greengrass - I think Damon is a very capable actor when given the right roles), Christian Bale, Robert Downey Junior......probably loads more

I don't want to ruin it for anyone reading this thread who maybe hasn't seen it yet, but for me, going back and watching it again made it pretty amazing.  And I thought it was pretty great the first time around.  Definitely one of my 15-20 favorite non-comedic films. :tup :tup

Never watched Breaking Bad.  It's on my to-do list.  But I know he is a fantastic actor.

Also, I love Michael Caine, but he never stars in anything.  Or hardly ever.

Robert Downey Jr. is another that's close to my top 4.  Even when he was heading towards his drug riddled days, he killed in movies like Less Than Zero.  If you've never seen that, do it now.  Oh and BTW James Spader is in it as well.

Sweet.

Haha, it seems like it.  The only films I can remember seeing him in are Blame It On Rio and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and he was marvelous in both.

Funny you say that, as I did see that for the first time a few months back.  I thought it was okay; I guess I wasn't expecting something that dark and non-funny out of something starring Andrew McCarthy in the 80s. :lol :lol

Wow, really?  I never hopped on the bandwagon until it came to a conclusion, but my wife and I have gobbled up as much of it as we could get on NetFlix.

It's oddly addictive, kinda like....meth  :P

You get two great actors and then you put up with Andrew McCarty! :lol

My four (I could watch these guys act all day):

Denzel Washington (Flight, Remember the Titans, Training Day)
Peter Krause (TV's Parenthood, Sports Night, Six Feet Under)
Will Smith (Independence Day, Men In Black, Seven Pounds)
Mel Gibson (Lethal Weapon, Ransom, Braveheart)
I don't want MP playing with DT unless they were making a drummer change. If they let MM go and bring back MP, then fine, but no guest appearance please.

In addition to the actors I mentioned before (Giamatti, Waltz, Brando), I think Peter Dinklage is making a good run for #4. Completely blows me away. But, I've really only seen him in GoT, which isn't a fair assessment.

I LOVE the original Death at a Funeral.  Most people I showed it to didn't really appreciate the humor, but I think it's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

I actually had never heard of it but I was going through On Demand one day a few years ago and I saw Matthew MacFadyen's name listed, and watched it simply because he was in it (I  :heart him).

Ok I don't know how I overlooked him, and it is a bit surprising as I do not recall seeing his name in this thread anywhere. But Humphrey Bogart. He wasn't the most talented, the most diverse, or the most capable, but in many ways, he was just the best, period.
