The music forum has lots of top 50s with albums, so why not do the same with video games? The thing is: you make a list of your 25 all-time fav games, write something about why that game made it to your top and try to update the list daily if possible. Just like the top 50 threads. Because 25 games aren't so much, with one list running at time we'll be fine. This OP is to keep track of the lists, make statistic with the rankings, link to past tops, etc. If you want to sign up for this, send me a PM and I'll add you to the waiting list.

Read before posting
To post your list, reply this thread with your updates - this means the lists will be run only on this post. This is intended to avoid another threads on this sub-forum. I'll send you a PM to tell you when you can start with your top. Also, try to finish it within or less than a month.

25.) Borderlands (2010)

One of my first xbox 360 games that I ever owned, Borderlands starts off my list in style. The game exploded with popularity, not only due to it’s extremely fun co-op friendly gameplay and story, but also it’s dope art style. The first time I played this game I was blazed down at my bio dads house, my brother in law and I docking around for hours, and I just had a blast. I came back home with a 360, some controllers, and my friends and I formed up multiple files to trudge through. I think this is my favorite entry in the series, despite the 2nd having a more unique feel, Borderlands holds the most memories of my friends and I doing nothing but going on road rampages, and many many other stupid as shit things. Also that final battle was pretty intense.

Overall: An insanely fun game that gave me and my friends many, many hours of enjoyment.

Do visual novels count as games?

And for series where each iteration is pretty much the same as the last one, is everyone cool with just giving the whole series as an entry? (For example, not that this would be in my list, but could someone just put "Madden NFL", or should they try to decide which game in the series is best?)

...my name is Araragi.

No problem.

Do visual novels count as games?
Like Heavy Rain? While it has some gameplay, yes, it counts as a video game.

Never played Borderlands, but always heard about it. It must be really fun and difficult - so sad that I suck at video games :lol

Not really like Heavy Rain, like these:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsukihime
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STEINS;GATE

Basically just text, images, voice acting in newer ones, usually you make choices that influence the plot, but some of them have no choices at all or very few.

Personally, I think you should try to narrow it down to one game. That's kinda like putting "Opeth" in your top favorite albums list. Even if the games are all the same, I'd think one should stand out more than the rest, even if it's just for nostalgic reasons or because the story is better or the box art has more tits on it is better than the others. But that's just me.

24.) Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2009)

Double.Motherfucking.Rangers.
That enough explains my love for this game, which just so happened to be my first online shooter. The maps online are absolutely brilliant, and every once and awhile I still go back to this game, which magically somehow still has some excellent online. Probably the last Call of Duty entry to really push the series forward, this one is just a blast to play, especially with friends. We would play offline, and just dick around all night long, it never got boring. And online once we all got that shit hooked up, we were unstoppable, and annoying. The DLC maps were actually really rad as well.
On top of the amazing online the campaign was intense. Many missions had you, gripping your heart with drama, action, and all the intensity.

Overall: A game that deserves a spot in the running for "Best FPS EVVA". It ain't my personal best, but I sure as fuck won't judge or question you if it's yours.

I always preferred CoD 4: MW to MW2, but that's mainly due to the fact that it was the first FPS that I played with friends, and MW2 is unquestionably brilliant as well.

Haven't played Borderlands yet... something I really should do, considering that pretty much everyone that I know loves the shit out of this game.

I've never played Borderlands (shame I know) and I'm not a fan of the CoD games at all. I know they are pretty popular, but despite playing the first CoD when it came out, as well as the first few Battlefield games, that "genre" never did it for me. I love plenty of FPS games, and I play CS:GO on a daily basis, but those "war" games just don't do much for me.

MW2 is so good.  One of the few "modern" games that will likely make my list (because I haven't played very many).

Borderlands is awesome. CODMW2, not a big fan of. I used to play the hell out of those games, especially 4 and WAW. I guess I just burned out on those around the time of MW2, so I couldn't really get into it.

23.) The Lawnmower Man (1993)

Most likely one of the games I've put the most time into, it's an arcade styled platformer that my grandparents had for their Snes, and I absolutely loved it. I've never seen the movie, but this game is soooooo much fun. In all honesty there's not really much that sets this game apart from any other 2d platformer of the era, I just happened to play it all the time when I was little and for that, it has my eternal love.

22.) Vanquish (2010)

I didn't get this game when it first came out, I didn't really notice it in all honesty, but when I finally got to it a couple years ago, I wish I had known about it. It's a 3rd person shooter that's got you on your heels the entire time with it's breakneck pace. You also have to be smart with your ammo, because if you run out you are boned. The story's kind of silly, but at the same time, taking down Space Russia is the most radical thing ever.

If you liked the Gears of War series you'll most definitely enjoy this game. If you don't, like me, you'll enjoy this game, it's a faster in it's gameplay compared to Gears of War, which I just find dreadfully slow.

Vanquish is pretty cool. It's not one of my favourite FPS games, but it's definitely very entertaining - which is all I really ask from a video game, at any rate - anything on top of that is just bonus.

I think that's what video games are about, entertaining - maybe telling a story or just jumping over Goombas. Btw, still waiting for the update, yo.
