I'm so confused. Are we talking about OIALT / 5YIALT or LSFNY / Metropolis 2000?
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

WE are talking about LSFNY.  I don't think that HE is.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

In fact, these are almost all the songs that are not yet in a DVD..
Here the songs to complete that list:

-Peruvian Skies
-Just Let me Breath
-Regression
-Through her Eyes
-One Last Time
These are all on Metropolis 2000 and Five Years in a LIVEtime, aren't they? I could be misremembering with FYiaLT, but everything on Scenes definitely made it to Metropolis.

Yeah, but the same would go for Never Enough, that made it to Romavarium.. I've only considered the four big DVDs.. LaB, Score, CiM and LaLP..

Well, it's kind of silly counting the other ones out. I mean, Romavarium is a Ytsejam label release, but Live in Tokyo/5YIALT, and Scenes From New York are both official DVD releases, and personally, I'd count either one of them bigger than CiM. So if you exclude them, you're only limiting it for yourself.

LSFNY counts. I can understand ignoring 5YIALT/OIALT though, as the quality is poor all around, and anything pre-Rudess is easily old enough that it's worth revisiting those songs. Even LSFNY is getting pretty old now.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Personally, I enjoyed the quality of the former 2 releases a lot more than LSFNY. I mean, it is what it is, but the effects and all that, I dunno, something about it felt off.

In terms of revisiting, sure. "Those songs don't count because they're old" or whatever other reason, is kind of silly, if you ask me.

I agree with Dissapear, i really want to hear it live. Other songs I would like to hear:

- Blind faith
- Octavarium
- Metropolis
- Beyond this life
- In the presence of enemies
- Ministry of lost souls
- Prophets of war
- Only a matter of time

Octavarium by far. My number 1 song to see live. Disappear would definitely be nice to see too.

Just play the first three songs from 6DOIT back-to-back-to-back.  I think this forum would collectively gush if that were to happen. :lol :lol

If they opened with those three then played Behind the Veil I could walk out if that concert and be satisfied.

I'd like to The Bigger Picture/Behind the Veil/Surrender to Reason played in order; in my opinion, that is one of the strongest three song runs they've ever thrown down.

Wouldn't mind seeing:
Peruvian Skies
To Live Forever
A Change of Seasons (still my all-time favorite DT song)
12-Step-Suite (start to finish)
Learning to Live (I still haven't seen it live)
...either.
