Surrender to Reason Guitar Solo

This was one of the sections on the album that kind of threw me off when I first listened to DT12.
The solo that starts at 4:04...

At first I thought it just sounded really random but I've come to really love it now though!

It's def really trippy... Probably one of the trippiest thing in a DT song!  :)

100%. The whole solo section of StR is a highlight of the album with the bass/drum groove in the back, but if we're talking just JP's solo, then BtV wins. That one is absolutely mind blowing.

Well, it seems like I'm in the minority, but hell no. That solo is awful. Now, the ending solo which goes on while LaBrie is singing? Great.

I love it! Maybe not my favourite solo of the album, as I gravitate towards that kind of solos that is beautifuy represented by the likes of TBP's and TLG's, but it's definitely a major album highlight.  :tup

I think it's really a great solo, but it should last at least one minute longer, because it really calls for it! To me, it's a rare king of solo in DT catalogue, with drums, bass and guitar soloing and improvising at same time and with a very relaxed, spontaneus feel.

I like it a lot. I still remember it vividly, listening to the album for the first time, there were a handful of moments when I went like "wow, they haven't done this before," the beginning of the STR guitar solo being one of them.

Well, in general the song screams "Rush"  ;D But more specifically I meant the song A Farewell To Kings itself - the solo section.
