Listened alot to the new album in my car recently, I can't say it's grabbing me like previous albums but it's cool, still a great album though. I honestly think Pale Morning Star is my favourite track on the album.

The guitar melody around the 3:30 mark is just so beautiful and emotional I could cry.

That's where I am at the moment. I've shelved it for now and I'm a little bit disappointed, especially the first half doesn't grab me. It gets better towards the end but not enough to excite me.

Yea that's good stuff. Having a supporting guitar melody contrasting the harsh vocals is a simple idea yet Insomnium does it so well one could call it genious how effective it really is. After seeing a bunch of reaction videos for Insomnium alot of them seems to really be intrigued by that.

Insomnium and Omnium Gatherum have set up a GoFundMe page to help them recover from the cancelled North American tour. The cancellation is a legitimate threat to their existence as a band.

They already raised 43 thousand euros at this point, and i think that's quite encouraging.

So I'm guessing the contracts they have making albums gives them fuck all income.

That and streaming services paying fractions of cents per play (which they still split with the record company).

Fractions of cents, lol, bloody hell, poor bastards.  I don't use streaming services but I doubt me buying their cd's would give them better.  Probably nothing since they would get paid for their deal and the record company distribute a number of copies of the album anyway I'd say.

Bands only make "real" (as in anything substantial) from touring and tour merchandise.  Cancelling a tour usually means a lot of upfront money paid to book things is lost.  Also, from following ProgPower's visa's issues last year, they used Insomnium as an example of thier struggles (although they were able to perform, it was a close one apparently).  A LOT of money is paid just to get visas for the band to perform in the US and that money is substantial and likely all lost here.

Man do I love the soaring guitar lead at 3:37 in Out to the Sea and how it builds up into the final chorus.

I have listened to it a couple times in the past few days, and it's finally growing on me. Still far from their best but better than I initially thought.

Still my fav album from them and listen to it quite regularly.  Shows the strength of the band with these varying opinions.

Just a shoutout to two somewhat perhaps undervalued tracks from the Weeping album.  Last Statement and Devoid of Caring.  Holy shit these songs are just amazing.  The ending of Last Statement, dear god.

Heart Like a Grave re-entered the Finnish physical albums chart at #3. Great response of support for their financial troubles.

The Insomnium Gatherum Scandinavian shows were rescheduled for December! So now I know the date I will park my ass in front of Jani on stage right and just cry my eyes out about finally getting to see them all together.

Well here it is for those who are in Friday already: The Conjurer

Almost a power ballad by melodeath standards.

Absolutely beautiful song. I adore this side of their music so much.

I hope this means a new album is on the way, even though it doesn't seem like very long ago since Heart Like a Grave came out.

Another new song, The Reticent

It's a fairly mellow number once again, written by Friman this time.
