No topic about the DT concert in my hometown yet?!  :tdwn Anyone else from here is going to this beautiful concert location? Since I am living just 2km away it is of course a must-see for me.

Will be my 21th DT concert...  :yarr

It is the second time for DT playing at the Stadtpark. First time was during the scenes Tour back in 2000. We celebrated JPs birthday, the whole crowd sang Happy Birthday to him. I have really good memories for this concert, mainly becourse of the day before the concert. Spocks Beard was the support act and they did a secret acoustic gig in the Thomas Read (a famous Irish pub, were Neal used to play during the time he lived in Hamburg) on the Reeperbahn. Some DT members showed up (MP, JP, JR) and we were able to speak to all of them. Then they went on stage for a jam with the Beard guys which was really unique because there were like 10 musicians on stage and about 40-50 people in the crowd. Later there was even a CD from the secret Neal & Nick gigs.

Tomorrow there will also be a JP clinic at Justmusic - anybody from here going?

Ticket say that the show starts at 7 p.m. - when they are planning to put on they normal show, they have to start this early. They have a strict cerfew - concerst have to end at 10 p.m.

Also I am worried about the sound. Normally concerts there are not very loud - I heard that they are not allowed to go beyond 90 dB. Lets see how things work out. The weather will be perfect for an open-air-DT-Experience...  :corn

About that "not allowed to go beyond 90dB", that's what I heard as well.  Alter Bridge did a show there a few weeks back and some people that went there noticed that there are sound limitations and when I saw updates on it, I was a bit surprised that the show started earlier than what a normal concert would start at.  Hopefully, it won't be a deal-breaking for the people watching.

Great concert yesterday - really unique open air atmosphere. A longer review of the show might follow, I also have 30 min of music, which I will upload to youtube...

Here are some impressions...

Would you mind sharing the original files before uploading them on youtube? I am a bootleg collector, I'd love it if you did :)

In the video above is one shot where you can see the crowd. After shattered fortress. I guess it was like 3000 people.

I had a great spot, but security was after everyone who tried to record, so in the intermission I moved to the back hoping that they let me be

FrostbiteZ - cool pics! Thanks for posting! Way superior than my IPhone pics...

In the local Hamburg Newspaper "Hamburger Abendblatt" there is a excellent review of the show. Sorry that I am too lazy to translate it as whole - maybe someone else is willing to do this...

There are some statements about the security... it basically says that the security had much work to do. But not because of crowdsurfing people, just because of many fans trying to document what they were witnessing in order to show it to their children and grandchildren, because without they would not belief what they had just seen...

The headline is: When virtuosity meets easiness...

I have now uploaded my recordings to mediafire and dropbox. So anyone who are interested in them can get them there  :)
Due to the tight security I only managed to record FAS and a bit of TEI from the first set

https://www.mediafire.com/folder/oyolelgytlqje//Dream%20Theater%20in%20Stadtpark%20Hamburg%202014

I trouble with uploading 2 of the files to mediafire so I have uploaded them to dropbox instead
