Lucien's Roulette - THE END
« on: February 23, 2014, 09:47:11 PM »
This is my first roulette, and it is pretty obvious by the results of my participation in other roulettes that I need to expand my tastes a bit.  :lol My banned bands will be very few, therefore you will know very little of what I will actually enjoy.

List of participants:

-Shadow Ninja 2.0
-Buddyhunter1
-Adace
-Senecadawg2
-Ben_Jamin
-Elite
-LieLowTheWantedMan
-Lonestar

Banned bands:

Dream Theater
Rush
Porcupine Tree
Levin Minnemann Rudess
Liquid Tension Experiment
Haken
Genesis
Yes
The Enid
Paul Winter Consort
King Crimson
Pink Floyd
Vangelis
Mad King Corduroy
Journey
Elton John
Led Zeppelin
Wolves in the Throne Room
Devin Townsend Project (and Ziltoid)
Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Dmitri Shostakovich
Igor Stravinsky
Camille Saint-Saens
There are probably a few others. I will let you know if I'm familiar with it, in which case you will resend.

Other rules: 2 songs from one band and it's banned, though there shouldn't be much of a problem with this due to the variety of themes.

There will be only 5 rounds, and points will go from 0-20 (as to keep ties from happening)

Round 1: Nostalgia
Round 2: Classical/Soundtracks
Round 3: Centerpiece
Round 4: Ambient
Round 5: Open

Send me anything you think I will like. I do not know most of your tastes, so there will be minimal, if any, possible bias. Just send what you like the most. I got pretty messed up in both of the previous roulettes sending material I myself didn't like that I thoguht they might. DUN DO DAT.

FYI: You are taking a big risk if you're sending me something with a large presence of harsh vocals, though in some cases it can be great (see: Devin Townsend).

Ah well.

If I make a v2, it will most likely be longer. I do have quite a bit of work over the next few weeks, mostly this week, and I'll be gone over the entirety of Spring Break, so I'm trying to keep anyone from getting angry.  ;D

I've always wanted to try a roulette myself. Participating in one is a good place to get my feet wet, I'm in.

Got all of you  ;)

Start sending me songs for round one (Lonestar has already sent his), but know that the roulette doesn't "start" till next week, when I will actually be able to listen to the songs.

Before we do that, could you maybe explain the "nostalgia" theme a bit more?

Yeah, I'd like that as well. Is it a song that makes me nostalgic? Does that have to be a song I've known for a long time, or just any song that conjures up nostalgia for me? Or maybe even a song about nostalgia.

I think we'll go with any song that conjures one's nostalgia. Not necessarily a song that you've known a long time, but a song that makes you feel good (or bad :dunno:) about the past.

but a song that makes you feel good (or bad :dunno:) about the past.

Mine fits into the theme of the album as nostalgic, in a negative manner.

PM includes two links. The first one is the song by itself with pretty poor quality (only one I could find), and the second one is the full album with much better quality.

Following and shit.

Very interesting theme.  Can't wait to see what was played.
I didn't know I could handle another 10 inches and it was rough but in the end I'm glad I did it.

This theme is proving challenging as I can't think of anything I find nostalgic that follows your tastes. But it will arise. :lol
