I saw Lackey at The Baseball Tavern in Boston during one of his rehab stints. Just as doofy in person.

My unofficial count has the strike 3 in his K's like this

Cowgill - Splitter (swinging)
Pujols - Fastball (checked swing)
Aybar - Splitter (swinging)
Stewart - Splitter (swinging)
Trout - Slider? (looking)
Freese - Splitter (swinging)
Cowgill - Splitter (swinging)
Trout - Splitter (swinging)
Aybar - Splitter (swinging)
Stewart - Splitter (swinging)
Cowgill - Splitter (swinging)

The damn pitch barely even goes across the plate. On the Trout splitter, it looked like it hit the dirt right infront of the plate. 0 chance.

At what point do we start calling Bryce Harper injury prone?

And are Harper and Puig basically the same player?

That was pretty funny, but seriously a Yankees fan complaining that he left because of the money is incredibly hilarious!

Dodgers at Twins is rained out.  Just as well, 37 is too cold for baseball anyway.  An uncovered stadium in Minnesota.... ::)

Jesus christ. Pitches slip sometimes. I don't even think Bud Norris' hit to Torii Hunter was intentional, but it got him in the ribs right after a home run. Ejection. JV's pitch didn't hit Cruz, and both teams got warned. What else needed to happen?

I miss the days when retaliations were ok.  You took liberties, you'd expect to get planked and just get your damn ass to 1st base.

I understand but the old days they'd hit you  in the thigh or ass and that was that.  Not today's head hunting.  There's a right way to plunk someone.

How is that not consistent? Batter got hit in ribs: Ejected. Pitch came in close but didn't hit anybody: Warned. What's the problem?

Both pitches were considered "retaliation pitches". They were handled differently. That's how it's not consistent.

Detroit @ Cleveland today is absolutely insane. Home runs all over the place, tons of fielding errors, Miguel Cabrera AND Brad Ausmus (!!!) ejected, and currently 9-7 in the bottom of the 8th.

Scherzer got destroyed for 5 runs in the 2nd and will be credited with all 7 earned runs the Tribe has scored, but still stands to get the win. Baseball is funny.

No-hitter for Dodgers Josh Beckett.  Too bad only 30% of LA got to watch it on TV.

I gotta say that yesterday had the worst. uniforms. ever.  Beige camo on white or grey jerseys?  And hardly any teams had a dark outline around the logo or numbers.  From a distance it all blended together.
