Not really that "cool" but a few people I sent this to said it was a postcard worthy picture, the Portland Head Light in Maine this morning:

Everyone who's ever been to Washington has pictures of the Washington Monument, but I always liked these that I took 10 years ago.

I also find this White House picture amusing because, if you enlarge it a bunch, you can see one of the military guys on the roof looking right back at me with his binoculars.

There are rifles on bipods on the roof in front of the two guys with binoculars.

I feel it's incredible complicated to build compared to a bridge but man does it look cool.

Saw this on reddit and it's not cgi. Such a cool photo.

It's all about perspective because the actual hotel is pretty amazing but not exactly sci-fi looking.  :lol

I took this picture when I got home from work yesterday.  Standing in my driveway looking west.  Shot with my iPhone 10 Plus.

Speaking of nature showing us stuff, this happened to me back in, oh, 2008 I think or around that time.  Mrs. NoseHair and I took a trip up to Bar Harbor, Maine.  Beautiful rocky new england coastline and a famous place called "Cadillac Mountain" where the first sunlight to hit north america when the sun rises hits, it's the top of this mountain according to local legend.  I got some amazing sunrise shots which I will post later, but we took a boat tour of the harbor and quite a bit of it was along the coast where it was water and thick forest about 200 to 300 meters to the port side.  So all of a sudden I spot a male Bald Eagle in the trees, probably 400 meters away because he's way up the side of the mountain.  I got him sitting in the trees:

So then, all of a sudden he takes off and heads directly towards the boat!  I got him as he began his approach in our direction:

Here's a close-up of that one:

Then I got him as he was flying by at probably 40mph:

Here's a closeup of that shot - focus was a little off:

I went to Bar Harbor last fall, beautiful place that I plan on returning too.  Very cool you not only were able to see an Eagle, but to get some shots of it too  :yarr

Speaking of Bald Eagles  - Originally being from Dallas I never really saw any wildlife other than an occasional coyote. When we moved up here, seeing a bald eagle is not uncommon. When I first saw one I was amazed and enthralled!

A couple of months ago, wifey and I were sitting on the couch when she looked out the window, jumped up and pointed - LOOK! It was a bald eagle in the sky which seemed to me to take up the entire sky! Wifey went to sit back down as my eyes were trained on the regal bird when quickly, it took a nose dive. I saw a squirrel running across the street and the eagle effortlessly swooped down and grabbed lunch and flew right into the woods and wifey missed it! It was a glorious sight to behold - - - until I looked at my 10lb Min-Pin.

I looked at him and said - "Boy, you best be respectin the Bald Eagle".  :metal

Where do you live now that you see Eagles, Humnus?

Here was my view from Cadillac Mountain  :lol A big reason I want to go back is to experience it with nice weather, had fog and rain my entire trip there which I honestly didn't mind, made for a really eerie feeling that was an experience in itself, but definitely ruined any chance of having nice views of the sunrise/sunset.

I live in Mid-Missouri near Jefferson City. I saw what I think is a young bald eagle it was small in size compared to an adult bald eagle (they are BIG!). When I see an adult, it always reminds me of Rodan. (I know, I'm showing my age).  :loser:

Mundane but True Story:  The first night we were there Mrs. NoseHair says, "we're getting up in the morning to go up to Cadillac Mountain for the sunrise" so I said, "yeah sure"

Fast forward to 4:00am and she's trying to wake me up and I'm like, "fuck off I'm sleeping!"  But she stuck with it and finally annoyed me awake so we drove up there and got a good spot early because it gets very crowded up there when the weather is projected to be perfect the way it was that day.

Anyway, we got those shots I posted above and guess what?  The ENTIRE rest of the week was rainy and overcast.  Had I succeeded in talking her out of going that first morning these photos wouldn't exist.

Yea, very well done by the Mrs.  I was going to also wake up super early to do the same, but the weather was just pure shit. Actually I got in just before the lock.  NO ONE was up there that morning and when I drove back down they were blocking the road because the conditions had gotten worse which didn't open back up while I was there.  So my experience wasn't the best, but I got an experience at least.  Man, that was a nice getaway trip.  Can't wait to do it again, as well as see other National Parks.  Got 10 of them checked off.

Those are some awesome shots of the coast. And the bald eagle too! We have several bald eagle nests near my house, so I see them every once in a while. Also have a great horned owl that made a nest in our tree in the front yard so we hear him every night almost.

Took this pic of my hood a couple of years ago while taking the kid to school, just missed the lamp posts glowing (they turned off as I was getting my camera).
