The Angels And Airwaves Thread
« on: January 29, 2014, 03:58:33 PM »
A thread for Tom DeLonge's other (and in my opinion better) band. They're a mixture of space rock, arena rock and maybe AOR. Anyway, they're amazing. Here's a few of their songs.

Any other fans around these parts?

Agreed, AandA is way better than Blink.

True story, one day my daughter walked in while i was listening to JP's solo in Surrounded and she asked me if I were listening to AandA.  I told her to sit down...school was in session.
But the arc of your life will still be profound

Never been a fan. The singer from Blink 182 decides to randomly adapt prog rock visuals and marketing, but makes typical Blink 182 bland rock music. Disappointing. And unexpected. If only his music matched his marketing.

His guitar playing in both bands is identical too.

A&A is one of my favorite bands and I like virtually every song they've put out (I'm also a big fan of Blink). I thought about making a thread for them, but I didn't think many people here would like/know of them, so I'm glad you did. :tup Everybody seems to think Delonge's voice is terrible, but I love it, and I think its gotten a lot better over the years.

I'd be interested to know your favorite songs/albums, Shadow.

DeLonge's voice is amazing, it absolutely makes the band. I'm in the very early stages of making something like a top 20/25/30/whatever vocalists thread, and he will appear somewhere on the list (or maybe not, gotta keep the suspene :p).

People who say they sound like Blink 182... I have no idea what to say, that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. :lol

As for favorites, the two albums I have are We Don't Need To Whisper and I Empire. I Empire is my favorite of the two. Favorite songs would be: Heaven, The Adventure, Breathe, Secret Crowds and Rite Of Spring. I also need to get Love I & II sometime, the few songs I heard from them were fantastic.

edit: Also, don't worry about making thread for bands no one else likes, I've got like five of 'em. :lol

Yeah, you definitely need to get Love 1&2 . I would probably have it tied with I-Empire for my favorite (I consider it 1 album). In fact you can take advantage of Amazon's stupidity and get both for 10 bucks.

This is what was on Amazon:
Love1- $10
Love2- $10
Love1&2- $10

Perhaps they changed it since then, but that made me laugh for quite some time.  :lol

So, I finally heard The Dream Walker, and it's fantastic. Probably better than all the other albums except for I-Empire, and it may even beat that one. Kiss With A Spell may well be my favorite AvA song.

Interesting. It's easily my least favorite of theirs. Its got some great songs (The Wolfpack, Tremors, Anomaly), but it also has some of my least favorites. They seem to have moved a little bit away from the space-rock stuff (Love was even borderline progressive at times), and went for a more electronic feel, which I'm not too big on. I still love the band, but I was kind of hoping they would continue on the path they took with Love with the more experimental, spacey stuff.

Glad you like it though. It's still a great album, just a little disappointing for me.

I don't know where else to post this, so I'll post it here! Tom has a solo album coming out; a single has been released, and it's fantastic.

This guy has no idea how to make bad music. Everything he touches is good.

I can't get past the vocals.  It's Blink 182 and I didn't even have to look up who Tom DeLonge is. I'd rather throw on some Material Issue or Mike Viola if I wanted this clean upbeat pop rock.
