Think they have a live album due next month so not sure if a new studio album is due also but Submarine would suggest so!?

The eighth Voyager album finished mastering at the end of June, I believe. However, I was talking to their drummer and visual artist, Ash Doodkorte, a while before that and he indicated the final release of the album may not be until early next year due to slow production of CDs and Vinyl. As it is, the live album was originally streamed last year and then “being worked on” for ages, which could’ve been Ash tinkering a lot with the artwork, or remastering the audio and visual stuff (including the old music videos that are included on the Blu-Ray) but also could’ve been code for “vinyl takes ages, we’ll announce something when we’re close to having product to sell”.

Cheers thankyou for the update.  New Voyager  :metal

Seems the gents from Voyager have been chosen to represent Australia in the 2023 Eurovision... Not a massive fan of either the band or the contest, but I do recognize how fucking huge this is for them, and couldn't be happier for them.

Songs pretty fucking dope too.

Damn, was only listening to these local guys again this week looking for news of new material so thanks for the heads up ;)

As a metal enthusiast I can't not express how happy I am these guys are going so far outside the box incorporating so many other elements into their music.

Voyager! :metal

so so happy about this, i've seen them with VOLA a couple months ago and talked about how cool it would have been for last year. Glad to see it finally happening.

(also hey, haven't posted in YEARS)

That's so cool. I love Eurovision and have always wanted to go but didn't fancy it in the UK (the appeal for me is how continental it feels). Maybe now there's enough reason for me to go in the UK...

Song is a straight up banger.  That guitar tone is devastating.  :metal :metal

I dig it. The repetition in the verse caught my attention, shall we say. ;) Good, though.

I find myself not hugely drawn to individual tracks by them, for some reason. Possibly because they're such an individual mix if styles. But am so excited for the new album.

Hope they have a blast at the Eurovision.

After a couple years looking I finally scored myself a great condition digipak of Meaning Of I recently and very happy with that purchase.  Quite hard to find some of their previous releases for good prices.   Am hoping they do well at Euro but regardless hope the promotion sees them re-releasing some of their stuff and some vinyl would be quite welcome :)

Will defs try getting to a Melbourne show this tour too \m/

Ha! Good stuff! I’ve been trying to find a copy of Meaning of I myself, without success…it’s probably my favorite of theirs…

Watching the live stream right now on Peacock.  This barely qualifies as "live." Slovenia just finished competing and there weren't even wireless transmitters on the instrumentalists or mics on the drum kit to give any thought that this is anything other than miming.  Vocals seem to be the only thing not pre-recorded.  Also Voyager looks like one of the few acts that actually wrote their own song.

I figured music would be overproduced to death, it's the nature of the show. I'd imagine setting up 16 different sound checks would be tough.

It’s been like this for as long as I can remember, the vocals are the only thing that’s live, any instruments on stage are not actually being played. Voyager song was fun, would be cool to see them make the final. Most of the rest ranged from slightly above average to downright boring.
Hey dude slow the fuck down so we can finish together at the same time.

I've always enjoyed Eurovision as a cool piece of entertainment but I never thought it would get any discussion on this forum. Apparently, someone had to send in a prog band. Maybe we should start a Eurovision thread so that six of us could chat?  ;D

I'd imagine setting up 16 different sound checks would be tough.
Not only difficult, it would be impossible to set up that the acts come right after one another. Back in the earliest days of Eurovision, there used to be a live house orchestra playing an arrangement of the song and a singer singing it, but pop music has gotten so much more diverse since then.

Ah, man. I'd love that!

I'm out watching Threshold on Saturday night, in a maddening twist of fate, so I won't be watching it until Sunday.

I love EuroV, though. I mean, the songs are almost never going to be things you listen to alongside your regular listening, but it's you but into the context, the whole creative and cultural process going on is wonderful, I think.

Cool to see Voyager on Eurovision. A radio friendly prog metal track. I dig it.

I’ve seen this band live god knows how long ago. Like, in an opening slot for something like Symphony X around 2005 ish? Can’t remember. I do remember I thought they were incredibly cheesy back then. They seem to have evolved into something better.

It's been cool to see the prog community gather in support of Voyager today on Facebook. Seen post from Ross Jennings, Daniel Tompkins and Viv Lalu already, not to mention the swath of the fandom that falls in my blast radius.

Yeah, easily the best song last night imo!

They finished at number 9, which is really good considering what kind of music competition we are talking about here.

I know my fellow countrymen and women are mad that Sweden swept the first place from under our nose. I'm just glad Voyager did pretty well in the competition.

It's been great to rediscover this band again. I remember listening to their earlier albums like 10 years ago, when I was more into DT, SymX and other bands like that.

Well done Aussies! :metal

Their presence flew completely under my radar.

I was concentrated on Lord of the Lost, the other metal band in the final, and obviously they finished last  :lol ::)
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!
