OMG, sabaton kicked ass. Haha,  they played an extra song and they didn't snap until they finished the song. Was pretty funny as fuck.

Does anyone else agree that there is a big difference between Speed Metal and Power Metal? Because alot of band of one genre are often described as the other. To me, the Painkiller album by JP is speed metal. Stratovarius is Power Metal. Discuss.

Power metal to me utilizes Orcchestra and harmonies. Speed Metal is what I'd consider Nevermore.

Power metal is bands like Gamma Ray, Edguy, Hammerfall, later Helloween, later Blind Guardian, Rhpasody etc.

Speed Metal is hard to define but I'd say stuff like early Helloween, early Blind Guaridan, Riot, some Nevermore, even Metal Church, even more thrashier stuff like Kreator, Annihilator and Venom.

The early Blind Guardian albums really do sound like Walls of Jericho. It's amazing. Walls of Jericho is an interesting album. There's no melody, very thrashy, very little variation within the songs.....i don't like it. Speed metal, power metal- throughout their career, the pumpkins have mixed both. Yet they sound nothing like any other speed or power metal bands. 7 Sinners is straight-up speed metal (well, mostly), what other bands sound like the Deris incarnation of Helloween? You cannot name any, I guarantee ;)

Good thing they weren't opening for Symphony X. Their tour manager would have surely killed them. He almost blew a gasket when Powerglove played over their time.

Space Police is awesome! As some may have noticed, Helloween is possibly my favorite band. Well, I'v been going thru a helloween phase. But I think Edguy is now on the same level as them. I'v always thought Helloween was one of the biggest german metal bands. But considering the sales for Space Police, I think Edguy may take that title. Tobi recently said Edguy is one of the biggest international (i think) bands to come out of Germany. I wonder how true that is.

NOOOO way, I would have never guessed that you like Helloween???
So Space Police sales are that good?
I have always regarded Blind Guardian as equal to Helloween in the German Metal popularity stakes.

I didn't care for Infected at all, and I also found No Sacrifice No Victory quite weak as well. I loved Threshold, though.

I find them about as boring as Metal can get. Predictable, unoriginal and safe. With choruses I'd expect to hear in church (if I ever went).
Just don't see the attraction.

I hear ya, Lowdz. They're not original. In any way. ;D

But let me say this. I got into Hammerfall around 1999, when Legacy Of Kings came out. At that time, the bands I grew up on were kind of stagnant and hadn't released anything decent in years. I heard Heeding The Call and it reminded me of Keepers era Helloween.

I instantly fell in love with them as they encapsulated a lot of my favorite bands from the 80's that I grew up on. Bands like Helloween, Dio, Saxon, Accept, even Dokken. They are really like an 80's metal tribute band that does originals. Now Hammerfall's problem is that while they filled a void, especially in the late 90's, all of the aforementioned bands have re-upped their games and have come back with some great albums between them. Hammerfall, unfortunately, has not really grown in any way, and they seem less inspired than when they started. That said, I could take Hammerfall's 15 best songs and put them up against anybody's!

Yeah, exactly. And while I could pick some great tunes from the rest of their catalog, they've basically been stuck in the mud ever since Renegade came out..

I could pretty much agree with that.  I forgot about Crimson Thunder though, that one was pretty good too.

I'm a bit like Lowdz when it comes to Hammerall............although I do have Legacy of Kings so I must've thought that was okay.  If I get the occasional need for some metal cheese I'd usually go for Manowar's Kings of Metal.

They never did anything for me.

And I love early Man0waR.

I did get Renegade but as I say, it was boring. Tried a couple of others that came after it but nah, not for me.

Well, I'm not a huge fan of fantasy type stuff, but I'v heard some Hammerfall. From what I remember, they didn't have a symphonic element to them, at least the songs I'v heard. And I like that. It was just fast, guitar driven metal, and that's cool. Not like that Stratovarius garbage ;p

Edguy has come a long, long way from their early stereotypical power metal. Since Hellfire Club they have had the most unique sound and are unlike any other band out there. There is no one like them. So what if their newer music no longer sounds like Keeper of The 7 Keys and Seventh Son. They now have a clear Edguy sound.

What I like about Space Police is that the album as a whole has a sound/atmosphere. But within it a ton of variety. Usually their albums don't have a atmosphere throughout. For example, a lot of songs off of Rocket Ride sound like they could be off of AoJ, or vice versa.
