Side note:

Bosk1:
Dave Miniketti/Storm - Solid, solid tune.  Killer solo in the middle of it with some really neat effects.  I loved it alright, just wasn't "gaga" for it.  It wasn't "Pam".  "Paaaaam".

That's no "effect."  It's all fingers.  He does it on a Les Paul by turning the volume all the way down on the neck pickup (so it is "off"), and flipping the pickup toggle switch super fast with his right hand while fretting the notes with this left.  He does it on a few songs.  Check out at about 2:53 here to see what I am talking about:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjuZzyzC7yg

I've never seen anyone else ever do that technique.

First person I saw do this was Ace Frehley.

Did you get a bit of a Queen vibe from that song? That's one of the reasons I really like it. Their first album is amazing so you should get it if you can. I recently got the second one and still trying to digest it, very different from the first.

Song sent and all in for $500.

Props to TAC for that Lost Horizon submission.  That album is just ridiculous.

Dante's Inferno, at least the live version, is absolutely KILLER!

It took me a while to get into Alive In Athens too. It was my first purchase of an Iced Earth CD. There's a lot to digest. I've always said that Alive In Athens is the Frampton Comes Alive of heavy metal.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

With a wager of $400, the next submission is sent. Wasn't planning on using it, but based on conversation in another thread, I decided to delay what I was planning to send.

I know... things are tough. I'm actually very shocked that I can't seem to find the right Sabbath song.  Like I said to you, Neon Knights is one of my favorite songs from the 80s.  Period.

Dare ain't half bad either.

Dare does sound like they should be good, I just think the suggested song was a stinker.

:D

Can't say I did, I just enjoyed the hell out of it.

:( do you accept paypal?

I appreciate the risk you took, but at least you were wise and only wagered a single c-note.

In regard to Brazen Abbot, Eye Of The Storm is the best of the bunch by a good distance and some albums aren't great. I'd Spotify them first.

I always check Spotify or G/S before deciding if I need it 'on-the-go' on my iPhone.  Working from home has its perks in that I can just plug my headphones into my personal laptop, and listen away when I'm not on the phone.

A good example from the Alive album:

Apologies for not making the wager component clear - in my mind it was!   :lol  Everyone good now?  I wanted the Jeopardy format, but didn't want to restrict anyone to categories or themes.  So, you each get to chose where on the Jeopardy board you want to be in any given round:

Use each wager once.  The four best songs win the wager; four least best lose the wager; four break even (that's not really a Jeopardy rule, but I didn't want it to be all or nothing for this group).

Capiche?

So, if I already used my $500 bet, I cannot use it again, right?

Right.  You can bet $400, $300, $200, $100 ... whichever round/song you wish.

And just like Jeopardy (for those in a deficit), it doesn't matter.  You can wager whatever you wish (that you haven't already used).

Clear as mud, right?  I'll give a couple of example.

TAC finished Round 1 with $500.  Round two he bets $200, and is in the bottom four.  His total after round 2 is $300.  His remaining wager amounts can be $100, $300, $400.
Zook finished Round 1 with -$100.  Round two he lets it ride with a $500 bet and is in the top four.  His running total is now $400.  His remaining wager amounts can be $200, $300, $400.

and so on.

At the end of 5 rounds, the top 3 will compete in Final Jeopardy.

Blast your Lastfm and similar musical taste to me! Several songs shot down in flames. Will send this evening.

Bear in mind how I opened the competition as it relates to my last.fm:

Here's my last.fm again for you to check before submitting a band/song

Feel free to ask or try any band you like.  Since I'm not doing this to discover new bands, I'll pretty much take any song I don't know.  So, even though I have a lot of listens to Journey for instance, there's also a lot by them that I don't know.  However, I do retain the right to reject any submission if I know the band just a little too much.

So, Bolsters ignored (rightfully so) my 80ish plays of Stratovarious since they were only from 2 albums.  I can think of a handful of bands you (and others fretting about whether they have enough material) could send.  My last.fm stats are like the drinking age in Quebec ... merely a suggestion.  I'll really only outright reject bands that I know/have at least 2/3rd of their discography.

You've played the song I was gonna send once so I guess it could be open, though if you thought it was as awesome as I do you'd have played it more... but it might fall foul of the 2/3 rule/guide. hmm, what to do?

Ok, two things before we get moving.

1st, for the Stratovarius fans.  Knowing that Episode and Fright Night are only 'meh' in my books, I was floored by Nemesis.  Any other essential albums that are more like Nemesis?

2nd... if you fuckers insist on sending me great music, it better be available online for me to sample the whole album.  I can't find Yargos, Brazen Abbot, or Forward Shapes anywhere to sample.   >:(  Might just be making blind purchases.
