I love Jolly's first album but the production on the second album is horrid.

Almost immediately after sending that song, I was having second thoughts. I was pretty sure you would like it, but then I was thinking afterwards that you might not like it enough.

I do think you should take both rounds into consideration. But I'm biased because my first round submission was fairly well received. :lol

I assume you meant a safe choice because it was a great melodic rock track with a chorus that sticks?
Actually, yeah, you're right. There are other PC69 songs  that rock a bit harder but that is the best chorus. Heard it once live and it stuck so much I was singing it for days.

Black Majesty/Firestorm - the only truly safe song with "Fire" in the title.  Very good power metal.  Not too over the top, nice mix of keys and guitar.  Solid vocals.  Again... kind of a safe choice.  Nothing overwhelming, but nothing underwhelming either.

Find Me/Firefight - On first listen, it was pretty standard/run-of-the-mill Frontiers Records material.  It got better with subsequent listens.

Glad you liked my track.  I thought it would have no problems getting through.  It's is pretty run of the mill, but so solid it's quite awesome.

Also, I'm guessing Bolsters sent the Find Me song.  He should stay.  While the entire album is a run of the mill Frontiers output, it's one Frontiers album that actually grew with time.  At first I was like 'meh' but it became a really solid melodic rock album with many listens.

Ok, let's end the suspense.  Who's cut, and who's qualified for the main competition.  As well, who sent what.

In:
Animations/The Manhattan Project - kirksnosehair
Pink Cream 69/Shame - lowdz
Forward Shapes/Proclivity - Nekov
Black Majesty/Firestorm - wolfking
Waysted/How The West Was Won - TAC
Justified/Temple of the Soul - bosk1
Lorenguard/The Prince and the Pariah - Zook

Out:

Nevermore[/b]/My Acid Words - elefantstone
Pathfinder[/b]/Beyond The Space, Beyond The Time - Shadow Ninja 2.0
Alessandro Bertoni[/b]/Megas Alexandros Pt. 3: To the Ends of the Earth - Big Hath

Undecided - your fate:

Find Me/Firefight - Bolsters... wolfie is right, it does age better with multiple listens.  And it's good enough on its own
Distorted Harmony/Kono Yume - Elite ... this had more that I liked than I didn't.  You're in.
Lethal/Fire in your Skin - jjrock88 ... ditto
Apple Pie/Gates of Never - kingshmegland ... in your 17,000+ song library, I'm sure there's much better.  Unfortunately, I won't be finding out this roulette.  This wasn't a bad song, just not as good as the rest.  Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

Which brings us down to

Kingcrow/Right Before - lonestar
               vs
Jolly/Firewell - Dr. DTVT

Doc had a home run in Round 1, and an admitted 'grower' in round 2.  lonestar had a bit of a stinker in Round 1, and a really good one in Round 2. If it's a cumulative effort, Doc gets the nod.  But alas, it is not.  It's a 'what-have-you-done-for-me-lately' effort.  And for that, the chef is in.

Rather than making this post any longer, I'll put up the full format details later today.  For the time being though, here's what you need to know - 5 open rounds, Jeopardy style.  And there will be a mystery competitor.

Final participant list:
kirksnosehair
lonestar
Bolsters
Lowdz
nekov
wolfking
TAC
Bosk
Elite
jjrock
zook

But by the way, the band name is "Die Happy," not "Justified."

Oh, then whoever put the details in the YT info was wrong:

Quote
Band: Justified
Song: Temple of Soul
Genres: Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Christian Rock
Album: Volume II (1993)
Label: Intense Records

And a little investigation reveals that "Justified" is track 1 on the s/t album.  Regardless, good tune

You're just like most bitches jingle, you take the good looking jerk and dump the smart nice guy.

Maybe it's for the best.  Bands that peaked in 1990 aren't my forte', and that seems to be the direction you are going.

Hardly... only 3 of the songs that did make the cut were from '93 or earlier.  Five were from 2011 or earlier.

No need to worry.  Completely open rounds - send me whatever you want.  Here's the format of how it's gonna play out...

Now that we've taken out 1/2 of the group, it's Double Jeopardy.  There are 11 of you, and as in my last roulette, there will be an additional, anonymous participant - last.fm (with a randomly selected 'recommendation').  For the next five rounds, you will each bet between $100 and $500, using up each $100 increment over the course of the 5 rounds.  You can chose which song/round you want to bet whenever - you could do $500 in round 1, $200 in round 2, $100 in round 3, etc ... whatever you chose.  Each round, the 4 best songs will win the bet; the 4 'least best' will lose the bet; 4 will break even.  At the end of five rounds, the 3 people with the most $$ will move on to Final Jeopardy:  one song, one bet.  Same award system - one will win the bet; one loses; one breaks even.  He who has the most $$ is the new jingle.champ.

The previously mentioned Mystery Bands also come in to play.  If you happen to chose one, that will act as a 'daily double', and you'll have the option to increase your wager to $500, or double it outright (depending on your original bet)

I'm trying to make this creative, yet not complicated.

Any questions, ask away.

Round 3 results will be posted no later than Thursday the 9th.

This is a pretty good idea.  So basically, it's like betting on sports really.  It's like if you have a song you are confident about, you can slam down $500.  If you are taking a risk, just bet $100.  If the risk doesn't pay off, you lose the $100, instead of wagering a $500, and putting yourself back too many steps.

Something like that?

Seriously, you've posted pictures of your CD towers.  How can you possibly be out of things to send me?

As a reminder to all, don't automatically assume something I've listened to is automatically off limits.  I used the example of Journey earlier (which, ironically I would now consider off limits - I bought 7 of their albums over the holidays to 'catch up').  But there are lots of bands that have lots of albums, and I only know 1 or a few of them.  If I don't know a song, I'm willing to take it.  There may be a few exceptions, but by-and-large, don't feel submissions NEED to be songs where I completely don't know the band.

This man gets it.

I'm just about out of things to send you Chad.  I think I'm going to have a just throw this thing and send you some of the classic bands I've followed for years that you may not dig.  Oh well.

:lol  Yeah, okay, I'll see how I go.  Your explanation right there on bands that are off limits helps a lot.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Was there a time restriction on this thing?
