80s Glam/Metal Vocal Showdown #27: Reno vs Cronin
« on: November 15, 2013, 04:54:30 AM »
Getting down to the short strokes on this category, and how could I not include a couple of the bigger rock acts from the 80s.  Sure, Loverboy and REO Speedwagon are nothing near glam or metal, and they aren't even hard rock.  But, they are definitely a couple of Tier 1 (ish) musical acts from the decade.  REO had a bit of a revolving door on the mic, but Cronin belted out most of their identifiable hits.

Sadly, time has not been kind to Reno, as he looks like a mini-me version of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.  Not sure how his voice is holding up, as Loverboy is pretty much just a nostalgia act.  I get the sense that REO is the same.

Still, gotta show my patriotism.

Reno it is.

I'm gonna flyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy my way!!!  Enjoy your earworm for the day RJ/Joe
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".

That's a solid matchup. I think in his prime, Reno had the better voice, but REO was more iconic than Loverboy. I'll go with Cronin.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Reno.  I loved his voice during his heyday.

So wait, we're spelling it wrong and king is spelling it right? What is going on here? :lol -- BlobVanDam

That's probably a tad unfair Chad, as they did at least release an album of new material relatively recently. Don't remember much about it tbh though.

Voted Reno as there's something that rubbed me the wrong way about Cronin's voice- maybe a "campness"? Anyway, neither bands were a particular favourite but I do very much enjoy both band's best ofs.
