If I'm lucky, I MIGHT be able to go to a DT concert if they come to Houston before fall of 2014.

You misunderstand, the entire second set would be the new album in full.

I think it's more likely for them to open with the new album. It makes sense to show the novelity first, instead of holding it back for one hour or more. Not-as-well-as-we-are informed people would say: "the new album is great, why are they not playing it?"

Perhaps, but I'm thinking WWRD. They did most of Clockwork Angels in their second set.

I think I'll go ahead and make a predicted setlist with DT12 in its entirety as well. It's safe to say that once the album is out and we familiarize ourselves with it, the setlist predictions will get even crazier.

1. Metropolis Pt. 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper
2. Overture 1928
---mandatory JLB intro speech---
3. The Mirror (+ reprise)
4. Blind Faith
5. Wither
6. Through Her Eyes (alternate mix version)
7. The Ones Who Help to Set the Sun
8. Misunderstood
---intermission---
9-17. Dream Theater
---encore---
18. Breaking All Illusions

Assuming DT12 will be ~75 minutes long, this works out to a 2.5 hour concert, which the band could definitely do especially with a short break.

We still have to see if Dream Theater is coherent enough to demand a full start to finish performance, at least for this tour.

Do you guys think there will be any rotation in the setlist now that we know the tour will be An Evening with DT? I bet they'll keep the same setlist throughout the tour, because there will already be quite a lot of material to learn, and last year JP said having a static setlist helps them perfect the performances. However, I could also see them having an A setlist and a B setlist with a few different songs, similar to the ADTOE tour.

Yep. Seeing that it's most likely that one set will be very static, I can definitely see the second set having three or more different songs played from one night to another. And the encores too, of course. :)

I hope they play -

The Glass Prison
Home
Anything from BC&SL
Something from 8VM
Something from FII

Wither, Sacrificed Sons and New Millennium would be good.

I would be absolutely ecstatic if they put octavarium and in the name of god back on the setlist.
It was this video that got me hooked onto DT about 2 ago  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8Y_W0KIC7o so to see/hear them play it live would be beyond awesome :hefdaddy :hefdaddy

I think we'll still see quite a bit of ADOTE in the set, especially since most of it is lower and easier for James to sing for such a long show.  I think it's pretty much a lock that OTBOA/BITS and BAL will be in the set

I want them to play Sacrificed Sons again.
I know they played it in 2009, but I love it. The first part, when complimented with live projection will make me tear up in a good way, then the rest of it is amazing.

Now that an Evening With show is more or less evidenced, at least your Europe, I want to rectify my setlist to add another .4 of an hour to fit that type of show:

1. Metropolis Pt. 1
2. Overture 1928
3. Cover My Eyes
---JLB speech---
4. The Mirror (w/ reprise)
5. Wither
6. Through Her Eyes (alternate mix version)
7. Hell's Kitchen
8. Lines in the Sand
9. The Ones Who Help to Set the Sun
10. Misunderstood
11. The Count of Tuscany
---intermission---
12-20. Dream Theater
---encore---
21. Breaking All Illusions

Now THAT'S a setlist. I also created another case where DT12 is played at the beginning of show. I would make another where the whole album isn't played, but showcases some songs, but I don't know the songs yet. :P

1-9. Dream Theater
10. The Count of Tuscany
---intermission---
11. Metropolis Pt. 1
12. Overture 1928
13. Cover My Eyes
---JLB speech---
14. The Mirror (w/ reprise)
15. Wither
16. Through Her Eyes (alternate mix version)
17. The Ones Who Help to Set the Sun
18. Misunderstood
19. Hell's Kitchen
20. Lines in the Sand
---encore---
21. Breaking All Illusions

I could live with both, but please, kick TOWH out and make some room for The Killing Hand  :loser:

That could work too! Preferably with the original intro because of the build-up, same with why TWOH is there.

Oh man...this thread appeals to my list making interests . Hope you all don't mind one more person contributing some speculation based on absolutely nothing :lol...to clarify, this is really more of a wish than an actual prediction. This was also created just assuming DT12/ST/That-(Maybe)-Purple-Album will be played in it's entirety, and with me in agreement that it would feel the most natural being played first.

Setlist A
Dream Theater
-intermission-
Lost Not Forgotten
Take The Time
The Mirror/Reprise
Misunderstood
Voices
Wither
Finally Free
The Glass Prison
-encore-
A Change of Seasons

Setlist B
Dream Theater
-intermission-
A Nightmare To Remember
Only A Matter Of Time
Hell's Kitchen
Lines In The Sand
Through Her Eyes
Home
Lifting Shadow's Off A Dream
In The Name Of God
-encore-
Octavarium

Kind of long (Clocking in shy of an hour and forty five minutes each if I'm doing my math correctly ), so probably pretty unlikely. Having said that, however, I would die happy if I could see them live.

P.S: Sorry SC...maybe next time ;)

I don't think they'll play Nightmare without MP, unless they play the version with JLB's more melodic vocals. And I don't see TGP as a set closer. Apart from that, I reckon everything else is pretty plausible.

This is actually something I'm really, really hoping for...I would love to hear what JP originally had in mind. I can also agree that TGP is perhaps not the strongest of closers, but...well darn it I would just love to see Finally Free leading straight into it live, and they just didn't seem right to me when placed earlier in the set. C'est la vie...a girl can dream, right? :lol

I see you took some of my song ideas. ;)

Which is good, because I think they were good song choices. :lol

I have a really strong feeling TGP will be back, possibly preceded by Finally Free. I could also see Trial of Tears and SOC making a return - the latter could give James' voice some rest.

Hells yeah, man! :metal Wither, The Mirror, and Misunderstood in particular are very high on my list of songs that I am dying to see live. I'd also love to see FII get some more love this time around (I tried to fit JLMB into one of my sets but it just didn't quite make the cut). I'd actually be a pretty happy camper if your prediction was correct...the only thing that would be somewhat of a let down for me would be ending with TCOT and BAI. This isn't because they wouldn't be an incredibly epic way to close a show (they most definitely would be), but because I've seen them both live already and there are other epics that I love just as much that I haven't seen live yet (keeping my fingers crossed for Octavarium to make an appearance).

...speculation is fun! :tup

Speculation is almost always fun! The only it wouldn't be fun is if you wanted them to play Learning to Live for example and instead they played You Not Me. XD

Don't even joke about them playing that song  :tdwn

Anyway, I hope they bring The Count of Tuscany back, that would be awesome. If that isn't in the set, and neither is Wither, then I highly doubt we'll get anything from BC&SL.

I think you might be right. TCOT would be awesome, but I'd say 8VM or ACOS (even though I don't love this song as much as most people do) would be even more phenomenal and more probable.

I for one would love if they ditched the huge epics again to make room for more short epics like BAI, LTL, TKH, Scarred, BF, ToT, SOC. Imagine having even half of them in a single show! Well worth an ACOS!

Unfortunately I don't think LTL will be played, because in 2011 he James said he couldn't hit the F#5 every night. And now that the shows will be "evening with"... :(

The scream of Octavarium is much easier than the LTL F#. For starters, it's a scream, and James has been hitting notes of that kind almost effortlessy since the beginning of 2012.
