I do too! I can't stop myself from trying to have pointless tour discussion with all my friends, even if they might not like Dream Theater.. It usually doesn't last long...

It's weird cause I really hate album pre-release speculation discussions, where it literally sounds like people are pulls guesses out of their asses while for the most case people keep it realistic in the tour predictions/expectations discussion.
I wouldn't want somebody with 18 kids to mow my damn lawn, based on a longstanding bias I have against crazy fucks.

"Dream Theater’s worldwide tour is set to start in early 2014. How are plans coming along? Have you built the setlists yet?

We have already been working on the tour for about a month now and there are all sorts of preparations in terms of design of the stage, video that will be using, and of course the setlist, which we’ve pretty much blocked out already. Given the reaction to the new album, we want to feature as much music from it as we can but we have so much material, at the same time, that we want to be careful not to leave some important things out. We want to pay tribute to some of our music that is coming up on an anniversary and we also want to play some things that we’ve never played before onstage. I think that if you’re a longtime fan you will leave the show feeling really satisfied. But if you’re new to the band, you’ll also be drawn in by the variety of music you’ll be hearing. This tour is unique for us because we’ll be the only ones up there, it’s simply an evening with Dream Theater. So our goal is to show people a really good time and give them the full-on Dream Theater experience".

OMG
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

God I'm so excited!!!!! I hope it's Shattered Fortress!!! I mean there's only 3 choices aside from non-album tracks, right?

BUT HOLY CRAP AAAGGHHHH!!

Actually on second thought I hope it's Space Dye Vest and they're playing Awake in its entirety rather than Scenes!!

Or wait a second... What if they are using a string ensemble for IT and the never before played thing is the 6 Degrees Overture in its original form??

How about all of it?

Set 1:

False Awakening Suite (Intro tape)
Enemy Inside
Looking Glass
Behind The Veil
The Bigger Picture
On The Backs of Angels
Scenes From a Memory (15 year anniversary)

Set 2 (With orchestra):

Overture (6Doit)
Losing Time/Grand Finale
Octavarium
Illumination Theory

Encore:
Awake (20yr anniversary)

Encore 2:
When Dream And Day Unite (25 year anniversary)

I would be shocked if they played Raw Dog. Shocked!

Disappointed though? Nope.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I know JP hasn't outright denied the existence of Raw Dog, but the fact that he said they haven't written an instrumental in a long time makes me believe RD isn't very high on their priority list.

Playing SDV would be logical, because it's never been played live and it would commemorate the 20th anniversary of Awake, but we'll see...

Uggghhghghgh I would be very unhappy if this is one of the things JP is hyping in this interview.  I'm rooting for SDV, which would be fun to hear even though it's not one of my very favorite DT songs.  I anticipate hearing a substantial chunk of SFAM.  Not the whole thing, but maybe the run of Overture 1928 through Fatal Tragedy with Home and The Spirit Carries On thrown in.  We might get a little bit of Awake too.

If Jordan shits all over overcomplicates Space-Dye Vest again it won't be worth it.

So.... it is time to do this.

Obviously, for this tour, they will begin the setlist with FAS and i think they will try to play all of the songs from the new album.
Considering that this is "An Evening With..." i guess it will be around 2 hrs 30 min or something like that.

I don't have my setlist done yet, but there are some songs that I'd never listened live like Home, Misunderstood, Just let me Breathe, Learning to live (whole song), Overture 1928 and so many others. I would really like to hear those songs.

So, show me your dream setlists for this tour.  :tup
Which tracks would you bring back to stage? which ones would you stop playing for a while?

Go!

Here's my setlist (with enough songs from DT12 to be mildly realistic)

Set 1:

False Awakening Suite
The Enemy Inside
The Looking Glass
Take The Time
Hell's Kitchen

The Bigger Picture

Set 2:

Set 1:

False Awakening Suite
Vacant
Stream of Consciousness
Hell's Kitchen
Lines In The Sand
Octavarium

Set 2:

Awake. Like, the whole album

Encore:

With all the seven string songs on the new album, it kind of forced me into grouping them with other seven string songs from older albums, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. :metal
