It's just about exactly 3 hours right? They totally should do this with SFAM and Awake. Of course it'd probably disappoint a few people who wanted a night of everything  :lol but maybe they could advertise a few nights this way so it's no surprise!

On second nights it could be alright. I didn't check, are there any on  the EU tour?

Well, then I hope I don't get SFAM unless I do a double gig. As much as I love SFAM I would rather see a full varied setlist.

Set 1

Scenes From A Memory

Set 2

Dream Theater

Encore

Octavarium
I could live with that  :metal

You would have to buy a huge memory card to tape it all! Such a show could never go unrecorded!  :yarr
and few more batteries. I managed to record the entire Roger Waters The Wall last sunday in Copenhagen and I used all my 4 batteries for that

Rechargable batteries, I hope! Does you camera run on lithium cells or on old cylindric batteries?

It would be great if they did a 2nd european leg as a 15 anniversary tour.

Eh, that's a good idea! Maybe without the burden of a full DTDT performance it could be feasible.

rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, but my camera drains them fast. Can record 25-30 minutes per battery

Album or Song?

Song. I probably wouldn't survive the awesomeness if they played the album.

Set 1

Scenes From A Memory

Set 2

Dream Theater

Encore

Pull Me Under Octavarium

I can't even think how happy I'd be if that happened.
Stick Metropolis Pt 1 in before Scenes as the show opener and I'd be more than satisfied  ;D That would be just under 3 hours I think (going by studio track lengths). Although given what they've said about FAS, you'd have to have Scenes as the second set.

Thinking about it, Scenes as the second set might work better, simply because no matter how good DT12 might be, it would he kind of underwhelming to listen to it immediately after SFAM.

And considering that we know FAS will be the intro, and The Enemy Inside will be the opener, it would be more likely.

I was trying to leave IT as the closer pre encore.  And FAS / Enemy Inside could work as a  second set opener. idk it could go either way.
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Was that in 2011 when that came up? Well this tour is evening with so I think it would work much better now.

But in my opinion the only good types of medleys are the ones that just use snippets of a whole load of songs, but they fit together like one. And all the other songs during the night have to be entirely unedited like everything was on the Dramatic Tour. I CAN'T STAND those types of medleys like Queen did when you hear 75% of like 4 songs with awkward transitions. So Instrumedley is really the only good DT medley.
Yeah I mentioned the idea of a second Instrumedley in 2011, so I guess there is more of a possibility of it happening now (plus having a ton of time to think over what instrumental sections could be cleverly pieced together) - good point! And I agree about medleys that consist of awkward transitions - Schmedley Wilcox was a bit awkward IMO altho I got used to it over time. But yeah, the original Instrumedley was probably their best one, altho I'd say that Caught in a New Millennium was also well done, if you would consider that a medley.

As for the idea of them doing SFaM for one of the sets, honestly, I hate the idea, and that's considering that it's one of my top 3 DT albums! The only exception I could see is if they were to change up the songs as they did when they performed WDaDU in LA in 2004. If they would play it as the album, pass - I can listen to the full album in the comfort of my home if that be the case, be it on SFaM or LSFNY. I'd rather get a setlist of material spanning all their albums (WDaDU and BCaSL included). As an alternate idea, I'd rather see them resurrect the original version of Metropolis part II and perform that on occasion - that IMO would be a really cool and unique way to celebrate the anniversary of SFaM without requiring a whole set to be taken up by that album's material.
As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

Here is my take on how the setlist could look like. I think they will have an A & B list just like they did on the previous tour and I would not mind if they on a few occasions played the entire sfam

Setlist A
first set
False awakening suite
The enemy inside
Under a glass moon
Lost not forgotten
New song
Innocence faded
Anna Lee
Beneath the surface
Illumination theory

second set
Bridges in the sky
New song
Trial of tears
Misunderstood
New song
Overture 1928
Strange déjà vu
New song
Breaking all illusions

Encore
Octavarium

Setlist B
First set

False awakening suite
The enemy inside
To live forever
Lost not forgotten
New song
Eve
Anna Lee
Beneath the surface
Illumination theory

second set
Bridges in the sky
New song
Trial of tears
Outcry
New song
Overture 1928
Strange Déjà Vu
New song
Count of Tuscany

Encore
In the name of God

What do you guys think of a SFAM Medley?

Regression / Overture1928/ Strange DV/ TDOE / Finally Free

Meh

I just wanna see Finally Free and Dance if they don't play the entire album. I've seen all the other "big" songs (Through My words/ Fatal Tragedy, Home, Beyond This Life, Spirit).

So now we've heard the album, do we still think the album will be played from start to finish as one of the two sets? Personally, I think every song will be played at each show, but spread out throughout the concert.

After listening to the new album a good many times now, I am convinced that they HAVE to have an orchestra. For me it would be such a cop out for Jordan to play that section in IT (YOU know which one I mean  ;) ). So yeah, I feel they've shot themselves in the foot with that one...
