I remember having a discussion with someone in DTF about themes on future DT- albums. He said it would be cool to see a concept about a horror- story. That inspired me a little bit.
This won't be a full on concept, but this will have some such themes. I also like their heavy stuff so, what about a dark and heavy album with some themes from horror stories?
So here we go!
Dream Theater - A False Paradise
1. Elysium(Intro) 2:12
2. Eyes In The Dark 7:17
3. Wake Up Inside 6:21
4. Dark Iconoclast 6:57
5. The Paradise We Once Knew 6:10
6. Calm Before The Storm 12:03
7. Serpent Eyes 5:48
8. Inhumanity 7:30
9. In The Distance 4:10
10. Years Of The Pouring Rain 18:15
1. Elysium: Instrumental intro. Begins with a uplifting tone, but slowly turns dark and menacing. Intro leads straight into Eyes In The Dark.
2. Eyes In The Dark: Dark and heavy song. Takes of slow and speeds up into a mid tempo song. A bit like As I Am.
3. Wake Up Inside : Faster and more uplifting than Eyes In The Dark. Still a heavy song though.
4. Dark Iconoclast: The Heaviest song in the album! Some crazy instrumentation in this one!
5. The Paradise We Once Knew: After the relentless beginning of the album, a nice ballad would be great here? Beautiful uplifting piano by Jordan, and a killer riff by John in the chorus!
6. Calm Before The Storm: A mini epic of sort. Like Blind Faith or The Endless Sacrifice.
7. Serpent Eyes: A bit of a Symphony X feel to this song. Heavy and fast paced.
8. Inhumanity : Heavy and technical song. Has that dark and scary vibe like most of the other songs in the album.
9. In The Distance: The second ballad of the album. A little slower and darker.
10. Years Of The Pouring Rain: The Epic Prog song of the album! Has the same feel as Trail Of Tears. A little less heavy than the rest of the album.
I had so much fun once again! Might even use some of these ideas in my next band- project.
