Not good enough! Now you go get into your desk chains, start listening to music, and in 6 hours you can have your gruel and water, if you behave yourself

elefantStone: Joey Eppard - Lay Down the Law
So funny thing here. When he first said the title of the song, I thought he sounded like Claudio Sanchez. And while reading on him he's the brother of Coheed and Cambria's drummer. 3 is also a band I know of but I never really listened to them. Anyways, the song. I really liked the fingerpicking here, so it's got me in the guitar department. :) The song itself is pretty catchy and has a nice edge to it. Funky stuff dude.

8/10

Lolzeez: Neil Young - Heart of Gold
As a Canadian, it's probably a crime this song wasn't forbidden. :lol It's on the radio lots so I've heard it a fair bit, but I've never really "listened" to it so I guess it gets a pass. And now that I'm actually listening, I enjoy it a lot! It's got the nice vocal melody I remember, but really listening I notice a lot more. The guitar is nice, and the harmonies at the end are neat. :) Great song, and I really need to listen to this guy more. :lol

7.5/10

Shadow Ninja 2.0: Ark - Just a Little
Aw yeuh. This song was cool as hell. I actually preferred the bass to the lead guitar here. As a bass player, mad props to him. It was one of many things that kept me invested in the song. The guitar itself was really neat so that helps. The fast-paced flamenco style was fun to hear. The chorus was abnormally catchy, something that a lot of prog bands miss out on. Another awesome send man!

9.5/10

adace: Scale the Summit - Odyssey
Scale the Summit is a band I've never given a proper chance. For some reason I always thought they were a metalcore group, but I guess I was wrong. :lol This song was awesome! The heavier parts were really cool, but the softer part was the best. Beautiful melody there. No vocals, so can't comment there. Yeah, awesome choice.

8/10

Lucien: Pendragon - The Edge of the World
Here's a band I haven't listened to in forever. Lots of these sort of lengthy prog tracks I always wait for the heavier parts after the softer parts because those are best. I actually preferred the softer stuff here. The guitar was just :heart :heart :heart. The spoken word was great too. Spoken word can be cheesy often in these sorts of songs, but I liked it. Yeah, neato fresh.

7.5/10

Tyrias: Mumford & Sons - Broken Crown
This is a band I've only heard a few songs of. I love the songs, but for some reason never dwelled further. This band really gets too much criticism, and this song is a good example. Sure it's not super unique. But it's just a really good song. The guitar is great and adds a lot. The vocals are awesome as always with this band. And I should get an album so I can defend their criticisms more accurately. :lol

8/10

senecadawg2: Journey - Of a Lifetime
Ballsy send here, seeing as I dislike every Journey song I've heard. ;) You were right though, this is different. Like really, really different. And I liked it a lot! The guitar was really awesome. Steve Perry isn't here, which is another big plus for me. :lol Nothing wrong with this tune. Maybe I'll try the album. :tup

9/10

Dark Castle: Skeletonwitch - More Cruel Than Weak
Another band of which I've heard a few songs, like them, but never dwelled further. First of all, I know Baizley art when I see it. Love that guy's art! :metal The song itself is sweet too. I love Skeletonwitch's blend of black and thrash metal. The soft intro is just beautiful, and everything afterwards is :metal :metal. Cool one!

9/10

Outcrier: Lô Borges - Trem de Doido
Alright there Mr. Noncaringpants. I'm sorry you don't care because your song kicked ass! ;) I love hearing more foreign sounding stuff, and this one had really cool guitar and nice vocals. The production was nice and almost relaxing in sound. This is some nice stuff to chill to. Good stuff.

9/10

Shadow Ninja 2.0 - 35.5
Outcrier - 35
Lolzeez - 34.5
Tyrias - 34
senecadawg2 - 33.5
elefantStone - 33
Dark Castle - 33
Lucien - 30.5
adace - 30.5

Shadow Ninja surges up to the top!

Round 5 for anyone who cares: To compensate for my terrible attempts at punctuality, this is a DOUBLE POINTS OPEN ROUND WOOO! Whatever I would give originally is double, so no .5s here either. Gives Lucien and adace a change to get into the mix. I guarantee I will be quicker this time. 100% guarantee. I am sorry guys.

Glad you enjoyed StS. I highly suggest you check out the rest of their album The Migration. It's one of my favorites of 2013 and their best work yet imo.

Btw, what's the theme for round 5?

So my laptop broke YET AGAIN. But I have persevered! Here are your results.

Tyrias: ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead - Life
I actually am slightly familiar with this band. I know the album Source Tags & Codes, but that's about it. So not enough to be forbidden. :) Anyway this song was pretty great. :D Really catchy and had a nice unique sound to it. Best part for me was the female vocal outro though. It sounded really nice. Solid submission.

18/20

Lucien: Shostakovich - Symphony No. 5 Finale
Ahh classical music. This is a first for this roulette! I seem to get one classical submission per roulette. :lol This one was all over the place, which made it great to listen to. Really intense overall, with a soft middle section. I honestly suck at talking about classical music so not much more to say. :lol Good tune.

17/20

Shadow Ninja 2.0: Steam Powered Giraffe - Brass Goggles
This song was right cool. :metal Catchy cabaret-infused music is something I like a lot and this band pulls it off nicely. Shame they aren't more well known or I'd probably be very familiar with them by now. ;) Nice one.

17/20

adace: Enslaved - Fusion of Sense and Earth
I've had this band on my computer forever but haven't gotten around to them. From what I understand they were once black metal but are now more prog metal. This is definitely a prog one. And a great one at that. :metal Lots of cool riffs and fine musicianship. All you could ask for from a heavier prog metal tune. Nice stuff.

19/20

Outcrier: Sebastien Tellier - La Ritournelle
The highest point of this song for me was probably the production. Really lush and polished in a way that complimented the rest of the song perfectly. It had some sweet bass in it too. :D It was a really full sounding song, which I enjoyed a lot.

17/20

senecadawg2: Gallowbraid - Stone of Remembrance
You compared this to Agalloch, which is a great comparison to make. I definitely got this feel. Not sure how to describe how I got that feeling, but it gave me that kind of atmosphere. And having an atmosphere like Agalloch is a wonderful thing. They're one of my favourite metal bands for that reason. The outro was really amazing I found. Not sure why but it was my favourite part and it really sealed the song up nicely. Awesome send dude.

19/20

Lolzeez: Morphine - Thursday
This song was just plain catchy. It had almost a post-punky feel in ways but a jazz rock feel too. I love both of those things, so this was an awesome listen. Not sure how I've never heard this band. Don't know how to go beyond what I said but nice send! Loved it.

17/20

Dark Castle: Nachtmystium - Addicts
So this song managed to be awesomely heavy but it also had this element of catchiness to it. A winning combo for sure. :metal Like it was overall a dark song, but still had nice melodies that stuck with me for sure. So yeah I definitely enjoyed that. Strong send for sure.

18/20

elefantStone: From Monument to Masses - Deafening
I definitely know this band name. It sounds so familiar. However I don't know their music. And this was quite an introduction. Post-rock is one of my favourite genres, and this song fuses it with some neat electronic elements. The voice samples worked for the song as well. They weren't used how, say, GY!BE uses them, but they do manage to compliment everything well enough. Neat song!

19/20

senecadawg2 - 52.5
Shadow Ninja 2.0 - 52.5
Outcrier - 52
Tyrias - 52
elefantStone - 52
Lolzeez - 51.5
Dark Castle - 51
adace - 49.5
Lucien - 47.5

We see some changes here, most notably senecadawg surging to the top and the top 7 being super close. :lol

Round 6: Send something bright. Take what you will from that. There is dark music, and there is bright music. Let's see what you can do with that. ;)
