Dream rig...?
« on: August 02, 2009, 12:21:24 PM »
mine would be a bunch of custom esp s (neck thru, emg's 81 and 85, see thru red finish, grover tuners and a floyd rose original trem) all with different tunings, an eric clapton strat, a david gilmour strat, a custom strat (just so i can have one, i said dream for a reason) and a lot of mesa boogie and diezel amps and maybe a fender for cleans, custom wah and a tube screamer

that would cost id say around 100 grand but it would be cool as fuck!

thats pretty much it

urs?

For recording, a Mesa Roadster with a matching cab, and my current 7-string. Maybe a Mesa Studio Preamp.

For live playing, a Boss GT-8 (straight into PA) would make me just as happy. It'd also be much easier to deal with.

I'm simple when it comes to gear-related stuff.

I just want a MusicMan Bongo 6 HH in Blue Pearl, and a 12 string Grand Chapman Stick.

Plugged into a massive cabinet capable of bringing down my house.

My dream rig.  For blues, kenny wayne shepherd's entire setup.  For metal, John petrucci's entire setup.  Yup that'd be pretty much the best thing ever.
If anyone in this thread judge him; heyy James WTF? about you in Awake In Japan? Then I will say; WTF about you silly?

mine's pretty realistic (and i hope to actually have the main parts of it soon):

Live (I won't go through recording gear, cuz that will be a lengthy list)

Guitars:

Carvin DC400C (current guitar), except i want another one with a fixed bridge
Carvin DC727 (sevin string)

Carvin V3
Custom 4x12 Cabinet: 2 Vintage 30's and 2 GT12T-75's in a diagonal pattern (when i buy the head i'm gonna make my own cabinet)

For effects, probably a G Major with a midi board, a good true bypass wah (probably would get a custom one or change some parts out of a crybaby; i've yet to find a wah pedal that i actually like), and a rack tuner

If I went all out into the dream rig thing, I would probably just get another V3 head and have 2 full stacks, along with some more effects (harmonizer, stereo delay setup somehow), and like 4 more guitars (more carvins, cuz they're the best).

edit:

and one of these too! damn this thing is cool

A Rickenbacker 4003. I would do ANYTHING to own one of those.

And I'm pretty happy with my current amp (Acoustic B200). I'm not looking for anything bigger or louder because I don't need it right now... I guess if I ever have to upgrade for some reason I'd look for something else Acoustic brand.

totally. I love my Carvin, but it's fretless, and I'd love to play a fretted Carvin.. Preferably a six string...

they make awesome stuff.  for the price and ability to customize almost anything, you can't beat it.

i've been going on their forums about once a day now for the past week (i used to go on there all the time a few years ago); it's pushing me so close to buying a V3, but i can't afford it  :sadpanda:

Realisticly, the gear i would get after a long time of savings would be:

Guitars:
PRS Custom 24
Fender american stratocaster of some sorts..
A good 12-string acoustic guitar

Bass:
Just a decent 5-string for recording (i will probably be buying one in a short while)

Keyboards:
Moog Little Phatty
Clavia Nord Electro 3

Effects:
Pedaltrain with a bunch of effects..

I've allready got a good amp (Engl Screamer) and a decent keyboard for pads and strings (Korg TR), so this would be what i would be getting if i could afford it  :tup

Cmon people. This thread was designed for fun. Not what you would get after a lot of money saving. I'm talking "dream" here. You have millions of dollard to "spend" and you guys are spending it on middle of the road equiptment. Cmon, get in the mood.

most of the stuff mentioned in this thread is not middle of the road at all.

and what i wrote is pretty much what i would want.  i don't need 4 racks full of stuff and 3 floorboards to dance around on.  i've played enough shows to know what i like; minimal is better, less goes wrong, and it's easier to set up and take care of.

if i took the time to list recording gear, i'm sure it would be quite expensive though  :D

I don't mean a bunch of pedals or anything like that but something at least more elaborate. I would need a bunch of guitars because of the different tunings. And a couple different amps.

Guitar to amp, you really can't get much more simple than that. But I want details and look and shit. My guitars would be custom. Make your custom, there has to be something you would change. Think big my friends.

I just want a MusicMan Bongo 6 HH in Blue Pearl, and a 12 string Grand Chapman Stick.

Plugged into a massive cabinet capable of bringing down my house.

I'm 2/3 of the way there. Ampeg 8x10(well...can NEARLY take my house down) and HH bongo (not in blue pearl).

A Stick would be awesome to have.

If I'm not mistaken. The Ampeg Cab's peak is 1600. Of course, that all depends on which model your talking about.
But the 'Classic' series, I'm almost sure, can push 1600.

Yeah I've got the Classic. And that sounds about right, but I don't know for sure.
