80s Glam/Metal Vocal Showdown #18: Diamond vs Borden

Another abstain round for me.  Didn't know these ones at all back then... and I still don't today.  JJ, Coz, Lowdz... give us the lowdown on these voices.
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".

I have no clue.  This seems more like it might be up TAC and wkiml's alley than mine.

King Diamond wins because while he has a damn weird voice, he can do an awful lot with it.

Lizzy Borden, the band and the singer, always came off as being a second rate Twisted Sister, without Dee Snider's undeniable ability to write catchy as hell metal songs. I owned a live album they did and I have absolutely no memory of it now except for the photo of a blonde with huge boobs that was part of the stage show.

Mighty kingdoms rise, but they all will fall, no more than a breath on the wind.

I've only recently (about 5 years ago) gotten into King Diamond. Always hated his voice and cheesiness.

In fact in the 80's, I left two of his shows before he even came on.  :omg:
Went to see the openers (Flotsam and Armored Saint).

And the Midnight Metal Roadshow kicks all kinds of ass.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I prefer King Diamond in Mercyful Fate.  He has a cool voice, but to be honest, I would be very embarrased to have someone overhear me listening to the King.  Its a little over the top.

Lizzy Borden was a C level, maybe B level metal band.  However, I've always been a big fan and Lizzy is one band that I can say has never released a poor disc.  Great band.

Both are cheesy, but Lizzy gets my vote by far.

Another tough one Chad. You're not making this easy are you.

King is probably the innovator- no one else really sounds like him. He is an acquird taste though. I am a recent LB fan. Avoided them back in the day because  of the image. Saw them in magazines but never heard a note by them until they were recommended here. I always thought they were trying too hard to be shocking and the world already had Alice. King was also trying hard to be shocking but with him it seemed more real somehow.

Tough choice but gonna go King.
