Fucking Brilliant.  As an album my favorite by far since Images and Words.  Not a single song that I jump over on listen-throughs (I have streamed it about 15 times start to finish with quite a few re-listens to individual tracks to pick up nuances and just cause I didnt want to change the vibe to the next song yet.)
Cool Story Bro.

Ok so I'm still waiting for my amazon delivery later this week, but the autorip mp3s became available this morning so I downloaded them.

For anyone else who's done this - is it just me or does it sound a bit more compressed than the stream? I'm not sure what it is but it sounds a bit too OTT whereas the stream sounded fine to me.

Hey guys. Have a question here. For the Roadrunner Digital Album, are the tracks in mp3?FLAC? First time ordering a digital album. All the CD stores in my country seems to have disappear off the map

They're FLAC, also included in the boxset a code to download the album.

I listened on Spotify at midnight today and it sounded way brighter than the stream for sure. About the same compression wise.

It may have been my iMac's volume limiter but heavier songs seemed to start louder than the last song finished.

I've been trying to put my finger on what it is about this album that feels so much different to me than the last several. I figured it
out. It's emotion. It's present in every members playing and it connects with me like the early DT did. The more I hear this the more
I think it may be a top 3 and dare I say, at times maybe flirt with #1.

I never thought DT would ever do that to me again. Rush did it to me with Clockwork Angels and now DT. Amazing.

I love it when your favourite bands have been treading water for a few albums and then all of a sudden they put out an absolute corker.

Therapy? did it with Crooked Timber. It was a stunning album - which came out after their worst album to date.

Well, it hasn't happened yet. I can't imagine it ever will, with Dream Theater.  But yes, I've stopped caring about other bands that did not produce the required bulk of good stuff. But they were never considered "favorite" to begin with. I was just fooling around with them and not looking for a long term relationship. There can only be one. For me.

Well, since I'm currently in a town where probably the number of CD players is probably smaller than the number of CD stores in my home town, I couldn't really get my hands on this, so I got my dad to buy it for me and to Dropbox it for me, and I have to say that I'm enjoying it quite a bit more than earlier. While I'm not usually one that for whom the sound quality is a turn-off, it does make a difference, and I'm liking it a lot more. Currently on TEI and it's even more badass than I remembered. :metal

1. Illumination Theory 10/10
2. The Bigger Picture 9.5/10
3. The Looking Glass 9.5/10
4. Surrender to Reason 9.25/10
5. Enigma Machine 9/10
6. Behind the Veil 8.5/10
7. The Enemy Inside 8.25/10
8. False Awakening Suite 8/10
9. Along for the Ride 7/10

Overall, as one amazing hour long musical experience, and including the fact that a song like IT obviously has way more weight than small tunes like FAS and Along for the Ride, the album is a 9.50/10. Right up there with ADToE for me, even though the two sound completely different.

Six Degrees
Illumination Theory
In the Name Of God
In The Presence Of Enemies ( 1&2 )
The Count Of Tuscany

Additional : I wonder how long that would be with all that on one album :lol

BTV is the BITS of DT12 for me. Not quality wise (although I love BTV, BITS is on a totally different level), but because of the noise intro, every riff being both badass and catchy, the verses being a lot different from each other, a really memorable instrumental section and of course DAT CHORUS :o

This might be a weird comparison, but what the hell.

For me it's the complete opposite. I have no emotional connection to this album whatsoever, whereas I have at least *some* emotional connection to all other DT albums.
