That simultaneously hurts my eyes and is mesmerizing.  ...all the more so when watching it at the same time I'm listening to Mike Mangini's drum solo from the Happy Holidays disk.

The current setlist is solid enough to not require any changes, even in North America.  It's that good.

However, I expect the Boston show to have a few tweaks and surprises to accommodate the strings and choir.

Also, it should be noted that the band sometimes changes its mind as the tour progresses.  Example: Great Debate last tour just didn't work for them so they switched it out.  Anything is possible.

I was thinking of mentioning that. Something like that is possible, although it seems like every song is getting a great crowd reaction from the videos I've seen so far, so that might not be an issue.

Greeeeat to hear that! :caffeine: I'm so stoked for tuesday!

There's a little chance that on Tuesday they could make an exception to the static setlist, and swap some song with the ine they OUGHT to play over there (and they didn't ever). Just a thought....

I'm rather sure they won't. Had it been a six minute song maaaayb they could have stuck it somewhere, but relearning and reharsing TCOT just for one night doesn't sound likely at all.

I totally agree. I actually hope they keep it the same. It's a much better setlist than the last tour and much better than I could have ever hoped for. No complaints here at all.

It's definitely better than the 15th, but still needs some tweaks.  He'll get it.

Yeah, I'm noticing some vast improvements already. Hope he manages to get rid of some of the sour notes in the future.

I think it's much better than the first night. He's hitting all the right notes, it's just a really difficult part to annunciate while straining your voice at those higher pitches.. I think we'll get close to studio at least a couple of playings this year.  ;)

Also, I think the James' octave shift at the end of SDV will be really epic once we get the defininitive performance of it.

I think he did a good job tonight in Barcelona on IT. On SDV he came in early on the high octave part, but that was the only mistake I noticed on  the whole show. And the videos are all working now!

To be honest I'm more concerned with JP's performance.  He's straight missing a lot of stuff lately (bends, slides, etc).  I wonder if it was super cold that night inside.  That'd definitely affect all of their performances.  That said, the Majesty sounds wonderful on the video of Finally Free from this night!

Does it also seem to anyone that they are having some pretty serious timing issues?  They must still be adjusting to or having problems with playing to a track.  Like for example, every time they come back into IT after the orchestra break the bass is usually late and you can hear the backing track.  Hopefully they get the tech difficulties ironed out and into their comfort zones soon!

They will all likely get better though so not that big of a deal.   :)

He didn't hit the F during The Pursuit of Truth, but the whole passage sounded much better than Porto. I have faith that he can improve and do that part justice, even if it's slightly altered from the studio version.

Maybe Petrucci is a bit rusty in a few spots, but I could barely notice it live...I for one am glad he doesn't play all the solos note for note exactly like the record - it adds spontaneity to a show that is rehearsed and choreographed to exhaustion.

Yeah, this is miles better than the first night.  Considering this is the second time they have played it, it's actually amazing how much it's improved over the first night.

Stop worrying about JP! I wouldn't be concerned about anything, the percentage of mistakes vs top notch playing is completely minimal, he'll be fine. Worrying about JPs guitar playing geez I feel like I'm in some kinda alternate reality. ::)
