The Trooper. It doesn't even make my top 30.

I think The Trooper is the quintessential Maiden song. If a newbie wanted to know what song sums up the band I would probably play them The Trooper first.

That doesn't mean it's their very best though.

Practically every other song in the top 15 wipes the floor with The Trooper.

That doesn't mean it's their very best though.

Trooper, TNOTB and Fear of the Dark (which left surprisingly early... it should be in top 10) are all good for that.

I have nothing against the song, but I've probably heard it too many times.
