FINALE ROUND 2 RESULTS!!!-Senecadawg2-First Song: Enslaved - Roots Of The MountainThis band was sent previously by Dr. DTVT…I think. I wasn't too into it but I didn't hate it either. This song was a little less black metal and more prog metal-ish. The chorus reminded me of Haken… I've got no idea why. The instrumentation is also really great. I really dug the calmer sections but I just gotta say, this band isn't really my cup of tea. Maybe I should try again in couple months but for now,I just can't get into them.
7.5/10
Second Song: Dredg - LightswitchI'm not too big on the prog rock+alternative rock idea because for the most part,I just can't hear the prog. The same was the issue here. The song was quite nice but it just sounded like some alternative rock. It wasn't amazing or anything, but I enjoyed it.
7/10
So your score is 14.5/20.
-MoraWintersoul-First Song: Headspace - Die With A BulletThe song starts out quite good and sometime at the 2 minute mark,it stops and then comes back with an awesome solo section. I instantly went "Oh boy, discovery." Also lemme address 2 things.
1.Damian Wilson's voice is fucking sweet.
2.That guitar sound is amazing.
9/10
Second Song: Fates Warning - Still RemainsDat intro though. Seriously, the intro with that keyboard/piano intro might very well be the best moment in any song I've had this round. The rest of the song is also some awesome stuff. I'm not really a huge fan of the vocals but the instrumental work is fucking perfect. Now,I should check out this album.
9.3/10
In total,18.3/20. Now,let's look at the 4 remaining songs.
-?-First Song: Wisdom Of Crowds - PleasureHoly crap 2013 has been a busy year for music. I've heard almost 100 albums so far but there is a bunch of awesome stuff that I missed and this is one of them. This band features Jonas Renkse from Katatonia so it grabbed my attention immediately. This is like a mixture of some progressive rock and also with some trip hop and electronic elements. This sounds really nice actually. Jonas' voice fits and the song as a whole is quite good. I should check out more sometime.
8/10
Second Song: Barren Earth - As It Is WrittenThis is like a prog rock melodeath song. It fucking rules. I really liked the bagpipes on the intro and the keyboard throughout the song really adds a punch and also makes it proggier. The vocals are really nice, both clean and harsh. The calm piano section is absolutely beautiful and also opens up a really rad instrumental section. This is just awesome. I don't have more to say honestly,I just gotta find this album somewhere!
9/10
So you have a total of 17/20.
-Zantera-First Song: Polkadot Cadaver - Last Call In JonestownLike you said, the middle section is really awesome but the rest unfortunately doesn't grab me. The vocals are pretty good and the riff is really cool but I just can't get into the song as a whole. But that middle section really kicked ass.
7/10
So,in order for Senecadawg2 to stay in the game, this next song must get a score less than
7.5/10. Let's take a look shall we?
Second Song: Mew - Am I Wry? NoFirst time I heard this,I hated the vocals. Second time,I didn't mind them. Now it's the fifth time and I fucking love this song. It's an awesome opener. Very energetic, fun and just a good song! Wow! I should check these guys out more often...
9/10
In total that's a
16/20Well,that means we're sadly saying goodbye to Senecadawg2. You introduced me to some bloody excellent bands and your taste is really awesome. It hurts to eliminate you… Anyways, for the next round since it's the third round, send me 3 songs!
BUT THAT IS NOT ALL MY DEAR FRIENDS. You have to send:
1.A proggy song.
2.A short song less than 3 minutes.
3.A song of your choice in order to introduce me to a band.
Also, the winner of the round is clearly Milena. Good job!
Now I'm gonna look up Headspace. And in the meantime,I'm waiting for your songs!
