FINALS:ROUND 1 RESULTS!

Now during these rounds,I will not be rating songs out of 10. Instead,I will be ranking them. I just think it makes the results more dramatic and stuff. Now,ladies first!

MoraWintersoul: Cloudkicker - From The Balcony

The song had a really cool intro with some nice guitar riffing and bass to go along with it. And then the song calms down a bit for some post rockish atmosphere. This was really nice and had a really awesome flow to go along with it. I'd love to hear more!

Zantera: Oathbreaker - The Abyss Looks Into Me

This was like a mixture of Black Metal,Post Rock and Hardcore. At first,I wasn't so sure about the female vocals but the instrumental work grabbed me instantly. Sounds like Deafheaven crossed with hardcore. The calmer sections were quite nice albeit a little too long. But then, the heavy comes back. This time he's really hungry. And then the song has the post rockish outro which is easily the best part of the song. This is quite good but the calm section kinda dragged and I'm still not huge on the female vocals. But the outro was really badass and a good way to end the song.

Elite: Remage Inc. - Feel The Waves

This was quite interesting. It's like something Devin Townsend would make. The vocals were quite nice but the riff was probably my favortite thing about the song. But I was a little underwhelmed with the song. I don't know,it felt like something was missing and I just wasn't so sure about it.

Senecadawg2: Dan Swanö - Moontower

Wow. I could have never guessed that a song with harsh vocals could be THIS catchy! The synth reminds me of Tales era Amorphis which is a really good thing mind you,and I could also hear the 70s prog influences. Swanö's vocals sound excellent and the chorus is just fun. There is a little guitar solo there too which for some reminds me of the keyboard solo in Subdivisions… It's just impressive how good he can play every single instrument,as the instrumentation is  great.Holy fuck I gotta go outside and buy this shit.

?: Kingston Wall - With My Mind

This is some 90s Finnish Prog but don't let the prog fool you, this was quite catchy. The Heavy Psychedelic elements are really what made this song for me. The guitar solo is really nice too and the vocals were quite enjoyable. My favorite thing was the guitar tone. It's like a cross between 70s Heavy Psychedelic and jazz fusion. This was quite a neat surprise!

So,let's get right to the results. I have discovered 3 artists this round. Cloudkicker,Dan Swanö and Kingston Wall. Now,the other songs are Zantera and Elite's songs. After re-listening to them, one of the songs actually grew on me more and the other one kinda started to bore me. It was the Oathbreaker song which started to grow on me and I wanted to check out the album. Sadly,Feel The Waves lost its fun in less then 5 listens. So that's why I'm very sorry to say,the loser of this round and the leaving participant is Elite.  :-[ I'm sorry dude,I just had to choose one weaker song and your song just got less good after each listen.

BUT,let's pick a winner for this round cause I kinda wanna do that.  The winner of this round is easily Senecadawg2. That Dan Swanö song sucked me in during the first 10 freaking seconds. Bravo.

FINALS:ROUND 2! Send me two songs!  :lol It's simple as that! Just send me 2 songs. Then I'm gonna rate each song out of 5 and the person with the least amount of points is gonna be out. Only 4 left! Now,impress me.

RIP Richard, sorry to see you gone. Especially since it was you that introduced me to Dan Swano  :lol

I'm thrilled that Lolzeez enjoyed the song. That whole album is incredibly catchy!

I'll serve you up 2 more tracks by the end of the day!

FINALE ROUND 2 RESULTS!!!

-Senecadawg2-

First Song: Enslaved - Roots Of The Mountain

This band was sent previously by Dr. DTVT…I think. I wasn't too into it but I didn't hate it either. This song was a little less black metal and more prog metal-ish. The chorus reminded me of Haken… I've got no idea why. The instrumentation is also really great. I really dug the calmer sections but I just gotta say, this band isn't really my cup of tea. Maybe I should try again in couple months but for now,I just can't get into them.

7.5/10

Second Song: Dredg - Lightswitch

I'm not too big on the prog rock+alternative rock idea because for the most part,I just can't hear the prog. The same was the issue here. The song was quite nice but it just sounded like some alternative rock. It wasn't amazing or anything, but I enjoyed it.

7/10

So your score is 14.5/20.

-MoraWintersoul-

First Song: Headspace - Die With A Bullet

The song starts out quite good and sometime at the 2 minute mark,it stops and then comes back with an awesome solo section. I  instantly went "Oh boy, discovery." Also lemme address 2 things.

1.Damian Wilson's voice is fucking sweet.
2.That guitar sound is amazing.

9/10

Second Song: Fates Warning - Still Remains

Dat intro though. Seriously, the intro with that keyboard/piano intro might very well be the best moment in any song I've had this round. The rest of the song is also some awesome stuff. I'm not really a huge fan of the vocals but the instrumental work is fucking perfect. Now,I should check out this album.

9.3/10

In total,18.3/20. Now,let's look at the 4 remaining songs.

-?-

First Song: Wisdom Of Crowds - Pleasure

Holy crap 2013 has been a busy year for music. I've heard almost 100 albums so far but there is a bunch of awesome stuff that I missed and this is one of them. This band features Jonas Renkse from Katatonia so it grabbed my attention immediately. This is like a mixture of some progressive rock and also with some trip hop and electronic elements. This sounds really nice actually. Jonas' voice fits and the song as a whole is quite good. I should check out more sometime.

8/10

Second Song: Barren Earth - As It Is Written

This is like a prog rock melodeath song. It fucking rules. I really liked the bagpipes on the intro and the keyboard throughout the song really adds a punch and also makes it proggier. The vocals are really nice, both clean and harsh. The calm piano section is absolutely beautiful and also opens up a really rad instrumental section. This is just awesome. I don't have more to say honestly,I just gotta find this album somewhere!

9/10

So you have a total of 17/20.

-Zantera-

First Song: Polkadot Cadaver - Last Call In Jonestown

Like you said, the middle section is really awesome but the rest unfortunately doesn't grab me. The vocals are pretty good and the riff is really cool but I just can't get into the song as a whole. But that middle section really kicked ass.

7/10

So,in order for Senecadawg2 to stay in the game, this next song must get a score less than 7.5/10. Let's take a look shall we?

Second Song: Mew - Am I Wry? No

First time I heard this,I hated the vocals. Second time,I didn't mind them. Now it's the fifth time and I fucking love this song. It's an awesome opener. Very energetic, fun and just a good song! Wow! I should check these guys out more often...

9/10

In total that's a 16/20

Well, that means we're sadly saying goodbye to Senecadawg2. You introduced me to some bloody excellent bands and your taste is really awesome. It hurts to eliminate you… Anyways, for the next round since it's the third round, send me 3 songs! :lol

BUT THAT IS NOT ALL MY DEAR FRIENDS. You have to send:

1.A proggy song.
2.A short song less than 3 minutes.
3.A song of your choice in order to introduce me to a band.

Also, the winner of the round is clearly Milena. Good job! :tup Now I'm gonna look up Headspace. And in the meantime,I'm waiting for your songs! :metal

If you can't decide based on their submissions, think about which two people you most want to hear more music from.

Grow some stones.  Make a decision.

YEAH I'M STILL STUCK HERE.  :rollin
Okay, listen up. Here are the results for this round. I just can't decide between two people. Give me couple more hours to decide. In the meantime, here are the results.

-MoraWintersoul-

Short: Sun Devoured Earth - Fountain Square

Weeeee… I'm floating in the sky… This is the song I listened to the most out of the 9. Just because of how beautiful and interesting it is. This was really nice to listen to at 5AM on my bed.

Prog: Dissona - Eccentress

This was a little too quirky for my tastes. It was quite nice but I just didn't feel like repeating this. (Also,is that Ziltoid/Mike Patton on vocals?)

Whatever: While Heaven Wept - Vessel

I'm not sure if I have heard this before but this sounded really familiar. But honesly,I don't give a shit. This IS the best song you've sent my in this roulette. I wasn't too big on your prog song but this made up for it. This prob would have gotten a 10.

-?-

Short: In Flames - Graveland

I couldn't get into IF. Not the new crap or the classics. Same with this song. It was alright but when it was over,I noticed that I wasn't really satisfied and felt pretty "meh"

Prog: Witherscape - Astrid Falls

I told you that I had bought the album 2 minutes before you had posted me this song. Nice timing. Anyways, the album is really awesome and this was a highlight. This band/album is fucking awesome and I can't wait till their next album.

Whatever: This Empty Flow - Distress

This reminded me of The Cure but a little better. The accent didn't bother me at all but I just don't like the sound. I don't know what you can call it, "The Cure sound" or "Post Punkish". Sure,it had some shoegaze in there but it didn't really stick out for some reason.

-Zantera-

Short: Loma Prieta - Fly By Night

This is better than I expected. The second half of the song was pure awesome and the first half was also really energetic, fun and enjoyable. I liked it.

Prog: Orbs - Sayer Of The Law

Dan Briggs sounds great but I couldn't stand the vocalist. The music is awesome but I just could not get past him. Shame because the chorus is really amazing. Oh and yes,at times, the vocals are slightly The Mars Voltaish like during the chorus. Man,is there an instrumental version of this? That would be a freaking discovery.

Whatever: Lush - Deluxe

Now this is like Dream Pop/Shoegaze. This was really fun to listen to even though it's a little too fast as a shoegaze song. But,if you ignore that, this is an awesome and catchy song. I enjoyed it.

SO WHAT IS MY DECISION?

Milena has always been solid throughout the roulette. I don't think she has gotten less than 7 points and I just wanna hear more from her. While Heaven Kept's song kinda proves this. So,I'm gonna keep her.

Now,Ville (tired of calling him ?) or Zantera… Zantera is the person who sent me Alcest. Ecailles De Lune is on my top 30 albums now. But he had some songs that I thought were "meh". Ville has been quite solid as well. I just felt like he sent the weakest songs this round. (Though I love Witherscape.) But I want to hear more from him. Uhhhh I wanna hear more from Zantera too… Gosh damnit. I'll post my decision couple hours later.

Distress is the least Cure-ish song on the TEF album, so I still think it was the best choice :lol Let's see if I can carry on despite my weak performance :blush
