Uhhhhhhh.. shazam takes whatever's on the radio, sends it to shazam's servers and tells you what the hell it is... it's not gonna take your interpretation and give you a match. It usually listens for 15-30 seconds and if it can match it it'll do it.

Just in the ballpark of 80s music with female singers, it could be Heart. Of course I don't know any of their songs except Barracuda, which this is not. But you might want to start with Heart and similar bands.

I think I might ask management if they know where I can see the playlist, cause apparently so I've heard, they're the ones who choose the format and possibly the songs.

In my store the music system has a display that tells what the artist/song is. Ask your manager if they can check for you next time the song is on.

It must be pretty obscure, or worse...it's not even on a label, and it was sourced from a library, which means this and some TV ads or something could be the only place it's ever been heard. I know I've gone looking for songs from TV commercials before only to discover that the song has not been released commercially, and only exists in some library that I don't have access to.

Exactly this. This is what I was thinking right away. Has happened to me a couple times as well with music from tv shows. But I hope if they're using that Muzak service that he can find it on the list eventually.

Dead end on all possible avenues. No one knows anything. Muzak said they have no way of knowing what songs play because they have too many devices and other bullshit.
