There is a song that's played at my store that sounds similar to Pat Benatar/80s female fronted rock, but because there's no DJ, I don't know who it is. Google turns up nothing.

Are there any fans of this kind of music? Here are some lyrics (might not be 100% accurate):

"can we make it to the open sky
we can reach it if we try
if you're touching me tonight
and our love just feels so right"

I also tried reddit and a Kroger forum, but nothing.

Well, if those lyrics are unavailable online, then it might always be some really, really indie artist, who's not very well known, so think about who you may have heard that's not very well known, maybe that'll ring a bell.

I'm not really up to date on music, especially indie artists, but I really don't think it is an indie artist. I mean, Fozzy was played for a while, which was rather surprising for a grocery store radio station, but this band doesn't really sound indie. It just sounds like an 80s love ballad. I wish it was played as much as the shitty yodeling metal cartoonish wail song so then I could get some more lyrics.

Also, I'm not sure an app would work as even though the best and clearest speaker is in the back room, it's still high up.

If Google can't find the lyrics, I highly doubt Shazaam or SoundHound are gonna find the song either.

Without the melody, the lyrics don't mean anything - to me at least. You could put the lyrics to a stanza from Rush song on here that I might not be able to pick up.

I think I might ask management if they know where I can see the playlist, cause apparently so I've heard, they're the ones who choose the format and possibly the songs.

I know lyric snippets aren't much help, but the ones I posted are from the chorus. I find it really weird that no one knows this song at all. It plays at a grocery store and sounds very 80s top 40, yet it appears to not exist.

Maybe it's different in other states or countries (don't know where you're from) but over here at least, and this is at all the Fry's I've worked at, they played top 40 including 80s one hit wonder bands. My current store plays different formats like when we open, more country is played, or when they hate us for no reason, they'll play nothing but sappy country when we are stocking at night. Currently at night, more 70s/80s rock is played including Ozzy and Sabbath.

I'm starting to question it all together. Lyrics don't pop in google with any SIMILAR results... how can you even tell what style song it was if you didn't get enough of the lyrics right?

Because it sounds like an 80s Pat Benatar style ballad. Not so much on the 80s snare sound though.

I'm never anywhere near a good speaker when the song comes on. I know where a good speaker is, but I can't exactly just stop what I'm doing and run to the back. I don't think my manager would like that too much.

I tried some variations on the lyrics but still didn't find anything.

Btw, any chance it's a new artist who jumped onto the "I want my music to sound eighties" bandwagon?
