Anyone else loving KIDS SEE GHOSTS? That sample usage in 4th Dimension is  :metal

This album was a positive surprise after Kanye’s ‘Ye’ album, which I thought was pretty forgettable. Loving the psychedelic hiphop of KIDS SEE GHOSTS though, 4th Dimension is one of the best tracks indeed.
Not 'Down To F***', but 'Dream Theater Forums' .

So I just found out a few minutes ago Eminem dropped a new album completely out of nowhere today. Listening to it now. The first couple songs were great. I mean, I don't know anything about rap outside of Eminem and a little Kendrick, but it sounded like Eminem riding that strength from the Chloraseptic remix. Not sure how the full thing will hold up, but it's sounding great on my monitors right now.

I don't listen to a lot of rap, mainly because I don't know where to start. Eminem never resonated with me, I hate how most of the music I heard from him is about dissing other artists and feeling sorry for himself for having a hard past. Came back in Kamikaze from the new album too and undoubtedly more songs on the album. But to each his own.

Personally I'm more into old-school hip-hop, a lot of which is instrumental. But one modern hip-hop artist that I adore it Tyler, The Creator. Has a very playful style of lyricism and also some super dark material. Does rap a lot about sex, but since he doesn't do any drugs at least that part of the 'sex/drugs/money' trope in modern hip-hop doesn't apply to him. :lol Goblin and Wolf are both good albums by him, and Flower Boy has its moments.

Well obviously I know To Pimp a Butterfly, that's basically Baby's First Hip-Hop Record For Prog-Nerds, but I will check out Impossible Kid, a lot of peeps in college were hyping that album when it came out.

Not a big rap guy, but I dig those albums:

Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die
Wu-Tang Clan - 36 Chambers
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
OutKast - Aquemini
Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique
Nas - Illmatic
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly and Good Kid Maad City
Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
Eric B & Rakim - Paid In Full

Final album by People Under The Stairs is a classic!!!  Awesome beats.  They sample the Family Ties TV theme!   :lol :lol :lol

You can have Kendrick and Drake and Cardi B etc.  This to me is better than any recent artist.

I don't really belong in this thread since I rarely or at all listen to Rap. I can always admire when someone is good at their craft whatever the music style it may be and their some cool artists out there.

Anyway i've been into Rage Against the Machine lately, it's such a perfect blend of styles. It's surprising that there's not more groups like RATM because I really think Rap and Metal can work really great together.

My favourite thing right now is watching black people react to RATM because that's apparently a thing, I hope that most people are overreacting because I have a hard time seeing so many people not being aware of a band that's been around for almost 30 years.

It’s not that there aren’t rap-metal bands, is that very few do it as good as RATM. You have bands like Linkin Park, POD, Limp Bizkit, Mudvayne, papa roach...and many more 90s bands lol

That's true, come to think of it there's a few but at the same time none of them sounds like RATM at all honestly, or I haven't heard the right songs.

Rage is one of the first times I heard Rap style that I liked. Before that I never thought I would be into any type of rap, but they definitely opened the door for me and now Rap/Hip hop is a genre I enjoy a lot.

There's only so my prog and rock I can listen to. Its nice to switch it up from time to time with stuff like Hip hop, electronic and synthwave stuff. Keeps things fresh.

Wanna-bes?

Mudvayne is the only one of them that has Prog tendencies. Bass and Drums are prog, guitar is Nu-Metal.

New-school weirdo rapper Denzel Curry just did a cover of "Bulls On Parade" that is fucking amazing!!! He does all of it justice AND he includes his own original verse. Outstanding:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZY4ywyFXdik

"Birds chirpin', dogs barkin', kids missin', milk cartons
Soul dark as black markets, war is startin', more is sparkin'
Historic prophets praise Muhammad
Diff'rent Strokes, Philip Drummond
Gave me crack, like I'm plumbin', Jesus Christ, second comin'
Cut myself, now I'm numbin', never scared, never runnin'
Chosen one, I'm one hunnid, pray for me, pray for London
Guilty me, he ain't done and gun me down, all for nothin'
President in abundance, president is a puppet
Gotta hate it, gotta love it, pass a class, I rise above it
Wise enough, advise the public, pistol bust, screamin' "fuck it"
Donald Trump, Donald Duck, what the fuck is the difference?
Now we stuck, in a rut, this ain't what I envisioned
What is what? What is guts when you don't have intuition?
Not a saint, not a sin, tell me what's my real religion?
Genocide, Genesis, they say it's a new beginning
I'm a sinner, you a sinner, I can see the devil grinning"

Also, peep one of his songs if you've never heard of him. He's really fucking good:

Blind-bought Tyler the Creator’s Flower Boy yesterday, listened to it 4 times and it’s already probably my favorite hip hop album of all time! It’s fucking awesome! Those chord progressions are unpredictable and truly sublime! and those synth melodies are stunning! Igor is very good too.

I’m a fan of Tyler now. I really appreciate that he comes up with most of his music instead of sampling music from other artists. I would be a much bigger hip hop fan if the artists didn’t use other people’s music so much.
