Protest the Hero - Modified Survivor: Kezia Round 6
« on: August 08, 2013, 07:49:09 PM »
Previous Round: https://www.dreamtheaterforums.org/boards/index.php?topic=38448.0

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6. Heretics & Killers
7. The Divine Suicide of K.
8. A Plateful Of Our Dead
9. Divinity Within
10. Nautical
--------------------
THE CONCEPT:
*Forcing voting to be on smaller groups to prevent early upsets and/or voting results to change in consolations and finals, as well as an easy method to rank the entire album catalog.

RULES:
*Each album will begin with a preliminary round with three groups of 3-4 songs.
-This is still a survivor, so "vote for your least favorite" is still in effect. Songs with the most votes will be eliminated.
-Vote for exactly one song in each group.
-Preliminary rounds will last 2 days each.
-In the event of unbalanced groups (which will be the case for every album in this survivor) an additional 1-day poll will be held for the final necessary round.

*After an album's preliminary round ends, an album ranking round will commence.
-The lowest remaining song from each group will be voted upon.
-Again, the song with the most votes will be eliminated.
-Ranking rounds will last 1 day each.

*There will be no consolation. Finals begin immediately after the last album round concludes.
-The finals will contain the lowest remaining song from each album.
-Voting rules are identical to album ranking rules. 1 day each.

--------------------
Preliminaries results:
A1: No Stars Over Bethlehem
A2: Heretics & Killers
A3: Divinity Within

B1: Blindfolds Aside
B2: Bury the Hatchet
B3: Nautical

C1: Turn Soonest To The Sea
C2: She Who Mars The Skin Of Gods
C3: The Divine Suicide of K.
C4: A Plateful Of Our Dead
--------------------
No Stars for me... the other two are better. She Who Mars is my favorite on the album, so. Yeah.

The same thing that's wrong with Parama, apparently.

insert everything you know is wrong clip here

but in all serious.
the second half of the album blows the first half away for me, I'd rate the last 5 all above the first 5.
Bury the Hatchet is easily the strongest of the first half.
So that's why move vote is where it is

I'd agree with the second half of the album being better than the first, except Bethlehem is better than all the other 9 tracks. And all other 29 protest album tracks

...not even close? ._.
Though I'm curious as to why you think that.

Naa, I don't even need to consider it. Bethlehem is easily my favourite song by them.

The intro riff is just incredible. The contrasting chugging parts, followed by the high note harmonies, then some quick octaves, followed by a short burst of tapping.
I just find the chaos of that section to be very pleasing to my ears.

And then the stuttering chugging into the first verse and Rody's great vocals to start the verse.

And I pretty much just love every section after that. The "Amen to the cossacks" stands out and the 2 outro sections are just incredible.

I just can't fault the song, it has everything I love about Protest in it, and nothing I'm not keen on.
It perhaps also helps that it was my introduction to Protest
