Finntroll
« on: August 08, 2013, 06:11:32 AM »
I don't see Finntroll mentioned on here too often, so I thought I'd share this Finnish gem of a band. Ballsy metal, folk music and something the Finns call "Humppa" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humppa combined into a quite unique sound. The lyrics are in Swedish and are usually about trolls hunting for christians and stuff. Scandinavian folklore.

They started out in 1997, so they've been doing this for a while. Their latest album is called "Blodsvept" and was released earlier this year. I've played it so much I start to know it by heart now; absolutely love it!

If you don't take music too seriously and tolerate harsh vocals, I suggest you give it a shot. And call your friends and have a troll party, the music deserves it.

Two songs for starters:
Skogsdotter ("Forest daughter") off their latest album "Blodsvept"
En mäktig här ("A mighty army") from "Ur Jordens Djup"

LOL I used to like them when I was still into metal, I guess at least 6 years ago. I even saw them live once. My favourite song was Trollhammaran or something like that. :)

I've heard of them and even like the tunes I've heard on Internet radio. Just not very high on the monumentally huge priority list.

My taste in music has changed significantly.. Don't know why. I feel like metal was early-teenage phase for me. :)

Time to move them upwards.  :)

Still haven't got the CD/LP but listened via YT Music app and it's a killer return to form.

I really like the new album, I've listened to it several times and it keeps getting better! I don't know their albums very well, but this one is great!
