I'd really like it to be heavy, but hopefully something completely different than say Constant Motion, which IMO is the 3rd worst song DT have released.

Wait, Canada is an actual country? I thought it was an American inside joke so I just tagged along with it all these years. :mehlin

:rollin  POTY candidate

If POTY means Phuck Off To You, then yes.

Yo!  Ghostie... at least bands come here to, you know, play a live concert.  :booya:  Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Now I have to go see Kamelot just to say I did, you didn't.  Might even shell out for the meet 'n' greet to get a pic with Tommy.
Sheesh dude, I make known to all Canadians that I think your country is the best thing ever and I'd really like to live there, if you missed the memo you don't have to go all I WILL ENJOY EVERYTHING YOU LOVE on me :mora:

(yeah I know you're just joshin' me you go ahead and enjoy things, I think that's pretty dayum sweet)

I feel more anticipation for Monday August 5th than I did for the birth of all 4 of my children.  Is that so bad?

So,

Is it a heavy song (a la BMU,BMD), more progressive song (a la OTBOA), melodic song (a la Wither) or what?

What do you think?

Probably will not be like OTBOA, and more like BMUBMD or Wither. It's going on USAToday.

the enemy inside is totally referring to oneself as their own enemy. In the context of illuminationism...(and the rest of the tracks for that matter)(?)

The name suggests to me that it's going to be quite a heavy tune, maybe in the vein of Constant Motion, but with the groove of TROAE.

When the tracklist was first revealed, I entertained the notion that The Enemy Inside might be a song about cancer or some other serious illness.  I pretty much dismissed the idea, but now, looking at those pictures, I honestly feel like it might be a legitimate possibility.
Sincerely,

No, terrorism isn't inside, it's outside. The enemy inside would be... Edward Snowden.

I'm not really overly excited about this. Like someone else said earlier, the singles tend to be the least interesting tracks on the albums.

I'm hoping it'll be something like ITPOE, heavy and dark, but still melodic and not too fast or thrashy.

Being a Bean Town Ex-Pat, I would be touched if they wrote a song about the Boston bombings.  However, the title The Enemy Inside doesn't strike me as being the case.  ALL WILL SOON BE REVEALED.

So do we have to log onto the USA Today website at a certain time, or will the stream be running all day???  Do we know if we can listen multiple times?

It'll probably coincide with RRs release schedule. So, it'll probably start streaming around 11am EST. I'd imagine USA Today would let it stream all day, as its going to boost their traffic throughout the day.

Now watch... around 11am EST the website will be overloaded and their servers will explode.  :omg:

Title + flabby skin... Maybe the song is about obesity. The enemy inside could be referring to genes, health conditions, issues within the mind that lead people to become out of control of their diet and a healthy lifestyle (or even that little demon with wings that whispers shit in your ear). The enemy itself could be the factors that constitute obesity, leading to diseases/death, etc. Pulling this outta my ass here guys, so bare with me.

I hope not. Or at least, in a more vague sense. The song could be about people's self-destructive nature, smoking, drugs, eating disorders and obesity included. But I certainly hope it's not specifically about fat people.

Knowing how the band likes to at times take an observational standpoint and not single anyone or one idea in particular in their lyrics, that actually might seem more plausible.

 ???

Pretty sure that the Enemy Inside isn't 20 min. long.

I'm guessing it's going to be a fairly heavy song, but will still have some progressive elements (bold prediction). The fact that this is being released on USA Today's site is pretty interesting. I'm guessing that with it being on the USA Today site, it's not gonna be TDEN heavy, and that it'll be fairly accessible.

I'm also in the camp that believes the Enemy Inside refers to something dealing with one's own personal problems.

He was referring to the fact that I said I hope it sounds like ITPOE... I said sounds like, not structured like. Plus I could very well mean ITPOE 1 which is only 8 minutes.

I'm hoping it's a good Dream Theater song. Won't speculate any further.

I wonder who came up with the idea that those are lyrics. It's probably just an idea for how the drums might go or something.
