Ahhhh..the joy of old vinyl. I remember sitting around with friends spinning records backwards to find the subliminal messages...Can't do THAT with a CD or MP3!!

I had that too. (it was stolen years ago)

I especially liked out the lightning bolt came out the edges and made it a 12". Seriously the coolest designed record I ever owned.

I had that WASP single, and was right shocked to find it a few years ago when I sold all my vinyls. If you've read any of my 80s stories, the fact that I forgot I owned it may not surprise you.

I remember that the coolest thing about the very beginning of the thrash movement was the Metal Massacre and Best of Metal Blade records. I owned all three of the Best of Metal Blade double albums at one time or another. I got turned on to *SO* many new bands that way.

and many, many other cool bands whose albums I never did pick up...but some of them had really great songs. All from the Best of Metal Blade series.

Other honorable mentions go to Obsession, Tygers of Pan Tang....there are others I'm sure I've forgotten. Even though I always HATED HATED HATED Grim Reaper with a passion, Steve Grimmett's follow up band Onslaught wasn't too bad. Under-rated IMO.

I'm sure there's stuff I'm forgetting. It comes with getting old.

I just listened to the hardest kick ass radio station that ever was to hear new and obscure acts..... KNAC 105.5

They changed formats though around 90 or so, but I believe they're still broadcasting on line

Just goes to show that even "fogeys" don't know it all. My reminiscing got me curious about Onslaught. I didn't even know that they had been around before Grimmitt....and that In Search of Sanity had been panned by most people who had been fans of their previous work. Not being familiar with their previous stuff, I actually thought it was kindof cool. Especially the opening 1-2 punch of Asylum and the title track. One of the coolest openings I can remember.

Now I need to go check out their earlier work.
