Although this is only my opinion, I want to add to this by saying that I think Dream Theater is fantastic at writing any type of song, whether it be something they've done before or have never done before; because of that, I don't believe they have ever written a bad song, and more than likely never will, until the day Dream Theater has ended*.* - Dream Theater will live on with its fans of course!
I'm with Boolsheet, the "radio-friendly" tracks are usually the worst on the album (relative, they are better than most other songs out there). The last time DT didn't write an apparent radio friendly track was 6DOIT. Is it a coincidence that no album since has yet to meet or exceed 6DOIT? I think not. </opinion>

Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

But radio friendliness has nothing to do with it. That idea is just prog snobbery imo. IaW had a radio hit and a power ballad on it, and how did that turn out?
Outcrier: Toughest cop on the force.
In what friggin' universe is a 68 minute long album "short"?

SDOIT is certainly million times more creative than every album they released since...

Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.
New interview with James. First part is about the new album https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vS5vUJ8X_A

Hey dude slow the fuck down so we can finish together at the same time.
SquscRa are the resultaten of sound nog bring propey
But Kotow is right .
Not sure where all this is coming from. I've never thought that the "radio song" on each album was the worst, except for BMUBMD. Those songs are normally pretty good.

I would love to hear all of those except for Scarred Blind Faith. I really wouldn't expect Octavarium with being a longer song though, especially as they'll already have the new 20+ minute epic to squeeze in there.
Zydar is my new hero. I just laughed so hard I nearly shat.

Yeah, but now it's an evening with. So who knows?
You never know, but those long songs add up very quickly!

But one can only hope I'll add my hope to that too! The first time they toured here was the SC tour, so I've never been able to see Octavarium live. Of course, that's assuming they're able to play here this tour. Australia didn't make the cut on the ADTOE tour.
