I guarantee you that these people probably weren't listening to Images and Words when they were 3 - 7 years old. Let alone When Dream and Day Unite. Which basically means that DT has a huge part of its fanbase who haven't been there since the band's inception, anyway.

Hai  Systematic Chaos = first DT album, here!  :metal

We don't want you!

Octavarium = first DT album here! :metal Just as much a fan of I&W as Octavarium too.

I love me some I&W or 8VM (<-- what is the abbrev. you guys use again?). In fact I love, truly love, all DT albums except FII. But I don't even dislike that album anymore, I've come to appreciate a lot about it, and I even love a few select tracks from it. Needless to say, I LOVE IT ALL! Dream Theater are my favorite music. (ehhhhhh please don't make me pick between them and Opeth D:)

The first song I heard where I knew who the band was, was actually Another Day. It came out on a compilation CD in norway back in 94: https://www.allmusic.com/album/even-more-power-ballads-mw0001235674 . But my father had bought WDADU and I&W when they were released in norway due to him being a prog fanatic back then.

Because DT is a Progressive band, so this is a progressive thread, constantly progressing into a new subject, with the occasional recurring theme of the new album.

We've ran  out of things to talk about
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Back on topic... what song do you guys think will be the single?

Most likely, I'm voting The Enemy Inside.

Wouldn't it be funny, but cool, if the single was actually the opening track?

I imagine the label will push for something a little more edgy sounding, like The Enemy Inside, or Surrender to Reason to be the single. But then again, I have no idea what these songs sound like, nor do I want to until I actually hear them.

I think he's talking about the actual song title there
