I hope the lyrics for the False Awakening Suite haven't been written in the Wikipedia style of Panic Attack and AROP...

These are probably the "proggiest" titles DT has ever had.

What are the reflections in the metal logo?

I thought it could be the Brooklyn Bridge.

I hope this is their darkest since Awake.  :metal

Well if ADTOE was IaW, and judging by all the sleep references, you may get your wish! :neverusethis:

Unless I'm very much mistaken, is that not the Brooklyn Bridge in the Majesty logo?

It does kind of look like it, but I've got the hi-res file here and it just appears to be the style they used to emboss it.. Although it could be something

Can we get a copy of the hi-res version?

I dont know NYC geography that well, but if the reflection is the Brooklyn Bridge, symbolic that the bridge takes DT to the world ?

'Paradox of Black Light'

Thanks, I know French too. I just don't get why the hell they would do this. Same thing with Pain of Salvation randomly singing in French on 'The Physics of Gridlock' from their Road Salt Two album. It just seems very pretentious and ..odd/off for some reason.

Well, if they stayed on the safe side with ADTOE, it looks like now they are going with something different, at least in terms of song titles and, probably, lyrics. It really looks like a concept album. Now I'm so curious to see if the music is also a step in a new direction and if there will be recurring themes as in Awake of SFAM.
I also wonder if these titles were a deliberate choice to write about a specific subject of if it was the music they had written that kinda brought them to this choice.

Just thought the same! The titles don't sound like dark athmosphere, like the cover does.

THIS PLZ MASTER
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I actually really like the DT logo look. Something about the way it "reflects" makes it look really legit. It doesn't look wonky at all to me.
Simple yet slick as all hell.
Now that my hype as subsided a little, I am regaining confidence in my ability to not listen to any of it until its release and really bask in its glory and make it the best DT listening ever!

Well, keep in mind that new DT artwork/tracklisting always leads to moments of disbelief followed by tons of speculation that always turns out to be wrong.

Remember when people thought ToT was going to be a really religious album? :D

That's absolutely gorgeous artwork. :omg: :hefdaddy :metal

I kinda get the dark vibe that a lot of other people here are mentioning, but my personal gut reaction is insane prog overload. I'm getting the distinct feeling that Dream Theater is aiming to make their personal equivalent of The Dark Side of the Moon with this album.

I'm excited as hell for this. :metal :tup

Everything is immaterial. Do you know that reality is immaterial? This is not reality.
In what friggin' universe is a 68 minute long album "short"?

A few thoughts:

1. The artwork - does that make this the Black Album?

2. The first track is a 3-part suite? Seems unlikely that would be what we previously knew as "Opening". But then there are still 9 tracks... did Easter Egg become a song, did something else get split up...?

3. Why on earth does anyone think the titles imply that it's a concept album? I mean, I'm not saying it's definitely not, but the titles mostly have nothing to do with each other.

4. At least from this, it definitely seems as though they are playing it less safe this time around, which is very exciting. Of course, whether that's the case with the music itself remains to be seen.

Just going by what I see here.  This album seems to have more purpose to it than the previous three albums.  I'm getting a back to Octavarium, 6 degrees vibe from it.  Maybe even some SFAM.

I hope this album has great flow which I feel has been missing on their albums since Octavarium.

I think this is the best cover art they have had in a long time.  Did they get a new artist?  The design is really good.
If anyone in this thread judge him; heyy James WTF? about you in Awake In Japan? Then I will say; WTF about you silly?

I think it could end up being a thematic album (which IS different from a concept album), which is what I was hoping for.
